Q on dtml-methods parameters and Renderer/ZLink and self

Hi, I'm quite new to Zope and I want to implement a 'special' link class. I found Renderer (which solved my first problem) and ZLink is a good base for the rest of my project. What I'm trying to do is that i can do <dtml-var "links.slashdot"> in my documents, and that in the output <a href="http://slashdot.org">slashdot</a> appears. I've got that working. My next step is that I want to create an intermediate page that says something like: URL: slashdot.org Note: Last time I checked, this site was down. So (and now comes my question), in a dtml-method of my ZLink class, I want to include the url of the link-object. I tried a <a href="&dtml.url-spam;"> from jim's howto, but the class method doesn't know the name of the object, and "self" doesn't work. Although I'm not making myself clear (I think), I hope someone can provide me a hint or an answer to how my method can use the url of 'self'. dtml-in

Having trouble with dtml-in, it seems to affect the current object "space" you're in? Im not sure about what all dtml-in affects, please take a look: ( just putting "cool_poll" in the kevntest object does not work, the cool_poll/index_html object actually needs to be called for somereason. Im using the "poll" module from the zope site ) Here's my object hierarchy: - root + squishdot - index_html + kevntest - kevnpoll + poll - index_html Including the following in root/squishdot/index_html does *not* work: (see error below) <dtml-with kevntest> <dtml-in "objectValues(['DTML Method'])"> <dtml-var title><BR> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in> </dtml-with> Including the following in root/squishdot/index_html works: <dtml-with kevntest> <dtml-var kevnpoll> </dtml-with> The file root/squishdot/kevntest/kevnpoll contains: <dtml-with cool_poll> <dtml-var index_html> </dtml-with> And here is the Zope server error Im getting, when it does *not* work: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Hello Zopistas FSSession 0.2.3 is available at: http://www.zope.org/Members/gaaros/FSSession FSSession 0.2.3 uses cPickle for more flexibility and it is therefore incompatible with Session data stored with the older version. It adds a few more options, including a noCookie option and the README contains a more complete example of usage, implementing a Sticky form. Pavlos

#1, it is absolutely NOT the browser that adds HTML and HEAD tags to the output from DTML methods. It is some default behavior in the ZPublisher. Verifying stuff like this takes about 20 seconds using Lynx and/or Telnet, even if you don't grok Zope internals. I strongly urge David and others not to post untested guesses as answers to specific technical questions here - it has the potential to confuse hundreds of readers. #2, there is a much simpler way to override Content-Type and other HTTP headers in any DTML Method: simply put them as the first lines in your method body, separated from the rest of the body content by a blank line. Try it: create a DTML Method called 'tom_is_great' and edit this in: +----------------------- |Content-Type: text/xml |X-Tom-Status: right as rain | |<document title="Tom is right"> |<status>Amazing...</status> |</document> | +----------------------- [Change] Now go look at it in IEXPLORE or dump it with Lynx, and voila. Modesty in three colors. :)

Thanks- I was trying to create the method under the ZSQL Methods product, not the ZODBCDA product I added. Is there a way to create a database connection to something like an MS Access database file when you cannot create the DSN on the server? ODBC/SQL newbie question

I am trying do begin working with MS SQL tables to display info. I am very new to SQL and my terminology might not be accurate so bear with me. I noticed there is no SQL connector available for Microsoft so opted for the ODBC Connector. I have it all setup and can test it with a query successfully, but I don't know how to write a query. All of the instructions I see refer to using SQL methods (I assume these are used with a SQL connector, not the ODBC Connector). The reason I say this is when I select the "add a new SQL method" I get the error: Add a SQL Method Warning: There are no SQL database connections. You need to add a Zope SQL database connection before you can use a Zope SQL Method. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Editing "lines" properties via DTML

Hi all, I have an object with a property of type "lines". It currently contains several line values. Is there a way to edit this object's "lines" property values from within a DTML method? I want to delete all the existing line values and repopulate the property with new line values. I have tried to get to the individual line values iteratively via <dtml-in>. In this way, I am able to access the individual line values but can't change them. I have also tried many variations of the "manage_changeProperties" and "manage_delProperties" methods on the object itself to try and achieve this. They have failed. Maybe I'm missing something simple. GenericUserFolder has locked me out.

Maybe I wasn't reading the docs closely enough, but once I dropped that GenericUserFolder into my folder, that's it. the end. I can't get in, even as the superuser. I can't FTP in. Removing the GUF product just stops IT from stopping me getting in, but it seems to have dug its claws into some other hooks, so I STILL can't get in. Ever tried removing an object from an export in XML? I'm finding it a little tricky to follow. Even so, when i try to import it again, Zope barfs up some complaint about a KeyError on "id". So... can anyone suggest how I might recover from this disaster? Many thanks for comments, curtis
