Owner role in zope 2.1.3

I have a zope powered educational application that allows authenticated users to create subfolders and to upload documents of various types. In the 2.0.0 version of my application local roles of owner were attached to these user created folders and documents, featuring the user responsible. In the 2.1.3 version of zope the owner local role is only created in documents and not in user created folders. Bug or feature? The behaviour of the application depends to some extent on ownership. Or did I miss something while upgrading? I just copied data.fs.* cb

Authenticating many users to manage only their own folders?

My first real foray into security ... root People (define Admin role here) robert acl_users (robert,Admin) douglas acl_users (douglas,Admin) william acl_users (william,Admin) . . I want to configure my site such that users can only edit their own property sheets. My naive way of accomplishing this is to create an Admin role in People's permissions that has management_screen access. I then add a UserFolder in each person's ZClass with them as the sole user (Admin role). It works but there are problems with my naive approach: 1) It's cumbersome. I have to create a UserFolder and User for each person I add (though I guess I can do this programatically in my constructor). To create this, I need to allow UserFolder additions in my ObjectManager-derived class. Now the logged-in user also has UserFolders as an addable object ... 2) Users can see the acl_users folder in the management screen. They can delete it. And if I change Admin so that they can't "delete objects", they can't delete *any* objects, including instances of other objects they've themselves created in this folder. It's 1:40am here in Oz and I'm shattered having taken the day off from my "real" job to make it a long weekend of Zoping. I'd love to awake in the morning to an email chorus of advice. This has got to be a common-enough scenario, authentication, not people skipping work to Zope ... Cheers, Darran.

why use eGroups for the list archives?

Just out of curiosity, why are we (the Royal we) using eGroups to archive the Zope mailing list? There is so much knowledge to be mined from the thousands of messages entombed there and yet the search facility on eGroups is woeful. Unless of course they're using Zope and triggering on my IP address to dynamically serve me the dumbed-down interface while the rest of you get the power-user version ... Darran (who may or may not own stock in DejaNews).

Python is installed in /usr/local/Python-1.5.2 Zope is installed in /usr/local/zope/2-1-2/ I would like to get a file.html on my browser from another machine (where I have my file.html). What can I make? Is it possible?

mod_pcgi2 bug and fix

Hello! Few times in my life - at least the part of my life I am using Zope :-) - I noted I have problems when pressing Reload in browser frequently. Recently I found the same problems when I made an error and generate a page that reloads itself using <META> and javascript window.location. Vladimir Bormotov <bor(a)vb.dn.ua> found what we think is the cause of these problems. He also created a patch for the problem. The patch is below, if mod_pcgi2 users want to use it right now. I hope to announce mod_pcgi2 version 1.0.1 later today or tomorrow, after more testing. Trying to compile ZPyGresql

Can somebody help me on this topic : eg installing the ZPyGresql?
