Finding matches between two lists

Hey all! This question went by last month without a reply, so I am going to try it again. I've also gotten a bit closer to the answer on my own. --------- The layout: Most of my code is in a Python Product, but there is still a bunch of dtml used. I have a class called "person" with a string variable called "name", and a class called "event" with a list variable called "eventnames". Now when a addEventForm is filled out, then the viewEventPage is called, I want all the people listed in "eventnames" to have a link to thier home page if they exist. --------- The DTML attempt: I could never get this to work correctly. Is it at all possible to have this list set reply to? since problems discussed and solved here are logged for others to search, surely it would be best if, by default, replies to these messages came to the list? I know it's just a little thing, but it still bugs me. I know that on other lists to which I subscribe this is done. setting a DTML method's namespace from a product method

I'm having some troubles with manipulating the namespace of DTML methods that are called from methods of product instances. Some questions: - How do I provide a DTML method with a full acquisition namespace, as if it were called in DTML, when I call it from a product class method? - Does a REQUEST.set(somevar, somevalue) operation add a variable to the namespace, or does it re-initialize a new request? I can hardly imagine the latter. - Does the local scope of a class method in a product somehow propagate itself to external DTML methods that are called from that class method? Context of my problem: My product has the following class: class NFGnav( OFS.SimpleItem.Item, Persistent, Acquisition.Implicit, AccessControl.Role.RoleManager ): which ultimately calls a DTML method: return self.NFGnav_ActiveMapItem(REQUEST) I can set arguments for the DTML method, no problem: REQUEST.set('NFGnav_ItemTitle', object.title_or_id()) before calling the DTML method works just fine. However, the DTML method seems to lose it's acquisition context in the process. That is, if I define an 'myimage' instance somewhere higher up in the site hierarchy, I get KeyErrors if I try to call <dtml-var myimage> from the DTML method. Funny thing is, if I request the URL of the product instance with the 'myimage' appended, this seems to have no problem: /mysite/somefolder/ProductInstance/myimage returns the image, whereas /mysite/somefolder/ProductInstance/someMethod/myimage gives a KeyError. So the aquisition context seems to be intact at the product class level, but not at the product class method level. I took care to provide (PARENTS, REQUEST) parameters for every class method invocation, by the way. I'd appreciate any suggestions in tackling this problem. This is probably the least painful way of attaining XML compliance. Unfortunately, it *will* be painful unless you're also using an XML-compliant editor. The low-level DTML source will end up looking a bit like this: <html> <head><title><var name="title_or_id"/></title> </head> [...] </html> The editor takes care of the en-/decoding of character entities. Using Zope as a mailing-list manager

Hi, This question may be very naive but is there any way to use Zope as a mailing list manager? The sort of thing I want to do is : 1. Check a mailbox for messages. 2. Grab any that are related to my Zope WebApplication 3. Process each message "request" depending on its content. 4. Send one or more email replies to one or more recipients (easy with what is already in Zope). This might allow me to create a simple list manager for instance or allow a virtual mailbox for all my WebApp members. - Ian Sparks.

This ist a typical Y2K bug, located in the module TimpeStamp.c, as I suspected earlier. Since nobody followed my hint from earlier this day so far, I took the opportunity to dig a little deeper, learning how to build and replace a python extension on the way. Given how little documentation there is, I don't claim having understood anything about, but noticing that the function static double TimeStamp_abst(int y, int mo, int d, int m, int s) gets called with y=100 (not 2000), changing the leap yar calculation l = y%4==0 && (y%100 != 0 || y%400==0); to l = y%4==0 && (y%100 != 0 || (y+1900)%400==0); in that function fixed the problem on my system. 'helper' classes in External Methods

Can someone give me a pointer to what these helper classes actually do? Can I use them to setup lists and dictionaries that will be used over the lifetime of the Zope server? This is an example from an external method that Pavlos posted a while back. class MCQ: ''' helper class for MCQ system''' def __init__(self, score): ''' constructor''' self.score = 0 self.total_score = 0 What I would like to do is load up a template_lookups dictionary with quite a few entries; for template_id in self.Actors.RENDER.objectIds(): renderer = eval("self.Actors.RENDER.%s" % template_id) template_lookups[template_id] = renderer Thing is, I need access to the ZODB in one of my methods later in the module and so the above code doesn't work (too many 'selfs'!). Dealing with Dictionaries

I have a DTML method from which I want to answer a dictionary. It looks something like this: <dtml-return "{'foo':'bar', 'biff':'boom'}"> I want to be able to use this information in two different ways. First, I want to be able to get a list of keys from the dictionary. Second, I want to be able to get a list of values. I could easily do this in Python, but I'm sure there must be a simple way to do this in DTML. I tried something like: <dtml-return "_['dictionaryVariableName'].keys()"> but that didn't work. I did notice that if I just used "_['dictionaryVariableName']" I actually got the keys. Basically I'm trying to create a system by which a user can enter a full string and an abbreviation for the string. I want to be able to produce a list of the full strings, and I want to be able to produce a list of the abbreviations. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. James W.
