Hi, OK, part of my zope pages are inserted from another site (like frames, but without frames). What must make my product is taking these external pages, treating the HTML code and print it with some new features. When the user clicks a link of this inserted page, I want to intercept the request, treat the URL to go and searsh the HTML code to insert it in my page. Is it possible to do it??? How??? hacking zdiscussion w RDB backend

hi all, i'm thinking of hacking zdiscussion to use rdb as the backend instead of zodb. but before i start anything, i'd like input from you learned zopistas. me:- i'm not a REAL programmer. just a hobbyist. some of my concerns -will a level 2 da be sufficient for high write site? i'm thinking of using postgres -if i were to retain what zdiscssion has, willl it suffice to have just one table? i would like to tie this to AUTHENTICATED_USER. so i want to use user db as the authenticating agent. is it advisable to just put the forum table in the user db database? -how would you guys do the tree from sql? -what other improvement can be included? what pitfalls to avoid? -anybody done this(zdiscussion/confera with sql backend) yet? this is just a start. i'm not sure whether i'll succeed. but i'll die trying :) thanks. -- ------------------------------------------------------ http://www.kedai.com.my/kk Am I Evil?

Socket Problems

I have kind of a stupid question about sockets. ANN: ZEO goes Open Source

Howdy everybody. Last night at the Bay Area Linux Users Group meeting I announced that we are going to make ZEO Open Source and thus a first-class feature of the Zope platform. For more information: http://www.zope.org/Products/ZEO/ Some quick notes: o A first release for a very small, qualified group of testers will happen mid-April o General release some weeks after that ZEO (Zope Enterprise Option) turns Zope into a *distributed* transactional object system, allowing people to add processors, machines, and networks to scale their web applications. --Paul

ZTables is going to die?

I don't know much about it, but considering the number of times I use TinyTable I would say that ZTables is a needed datastucture for handling larger amounts of data. Of course I understand and encourageDC to sell it as a commercial extension, but I have problems understanding why they don't release it to the public if they lost interest. Restarting Zope makes Values in python class disappear

I've got a simple python class that has a data member that holds a list of strings (among other things). I can laod values into this list fine. And can query the object and the list is populated. However, after I restart Zope, the list for the class instance is empty. The other data values in my class retain their values just fine. I've got other classes that hold similar lists for which this doesn't occur. I'm banging my head against a wall - any ideas? mark(a)ifopen.com

multiple visits to dtml-method page

I have a dtml-method page that displays a table of values and allows the viewer to delete on of them (using an sql method on the next page). All works as expected, but I noticed an odd thing: when I used the back button on the browser the table of values was not updated, but showed the old values. This is bad, because people will think their delete did not work. How do I force a page update? I checked the IE5 options to make sure it was checking the date stamp on every visit, so I don't think it's a cache issue, though I don't know enough about browsing to say it isn't. Shouldn't forms be re-submitted on the back button? I'm sort of confused how this is all handled....

REQUEST weirdness . . .

'ello. Bear with me on this one; I'm having worlds of problems coming up with any kind of coherent way of expressing the problem. :) I have a form which contains the following: <input type=text name="street.address1:record"> <input type=text name="street.address2:record"> <input type=text name="street.city:record"> <input type=text name="street.state:record"> <input type=text name="street.zip:record"> To parse this data, I would ordinarily just use a dtml-with: <dtml-with street> <dtml-var address1>, etc, etc, etc </dtml-with> No problem. This, however, is where things get interesting. I'm passing the data from this form to a "confirmation" page. The data from the first form will be simply put into a bunch of "hidden" fields, where the user will be prompted to REALLY do what they were doing, or cancel back to the original form. Now, I don't want to have to re-code the confirmation page every time I add a new value to the main form, or remove an input for whatever reason. What I figured I would do is the following: <dtml-in "REQUEST.form.keys()"> <input type=hidden name="<dtml-var sequence-item>" value="<dtml-var "REQUEST.form[_['sequence-item']]">"> </dtml-in> This works fine for all the values in the form which aren't using the ":record" tag, but obviously for my address, I'll need to iterate through it. ie: <dtml-in "REQUEST.form['street'].keys()"> <input type=hidden name="street.<dtml-var sequence-item>:record" value="<dtml-var "REQUEST.form['street'][_['sequence-item']]">"> </dtml-in> ( In the original code, "street" wasn't hardcoded, and I just wrapped that statement around a dtml-try, where the except clause was my original dtml-in. ) This code doesn't work. Upon closer inspection, the following line was the culprit: <dtml-in "REQUEST.form['street'].keys()"> Upon even closer inspection, *none* of the dictionary functions would work. Not even <dtml-var "REQUEST.form['street']['address1']"> Then I decided it was time to just see exactly what was in the object. <dtml-var "REQUEST.form['street']"> yielded the following results (I had just entered sequential numbers for all five inputs): address1: 1, address2: 2, city: 3, state: 4, zip: 5 Here's the output of <dtml-var "REQUEST.form">: {'street': address1: 1, address2: 2, city: 3, state: 4, zip: 5, 'submit': 'submit'} The original <dtml-with> code still works, as does <dtml-var "street.address1">. I've also tried using getitem: <dtml-var "_.getitem('street')['address1']"> I'm quite confused. It would appear that "street" really *isn't* a dictionary at all, yet somehow the <dtml-xxx> tags still work. What's going on here? I'm quite befuddled. Storing an object in RAM during Zope's up-time

Hi, How do I store an object in RAM during Zope's up-time? I don't want to store it as a persistent object. And I don't want it to disappear after a http transaction (so REQUEST variable is no good.) I would like to be able to create this object given a particular http transaction, and afterward I may want to modify it.
