WorldPilot problems

Greetings, I'm running RedHat 6.0, Zope 2.1.4, and WorldPilot 1.0.4 WorldPilot installed fairly painlessly. I'm able to log into it and can view e-mail messages. However, I get an error message ('TypeError') when I try to send a message. Also, I've noticed a couple of other small problems. When composing a message and clicking on 'save as draft', there doesn't appear to be any way to access the message to finish editing and sending it, and when you do save a message as a draft, it displays a message with instructions on how to continue the message. These intructions are rather confused, something to the effect of: "To continue continue the...". Jeff Robertson jeffr(a)odeon.net

Inserting data into database via web page

Hi, I feel I've managed to get a grip on search query's through web interfaces, but I can't find any documentation to show me how to setup a web page that will allow me to use an sql method with the 'INSERT INTO' string so that I can insert data into my database. Can anyone offer any documentation links or tell me how to do this ? Thanks

Zope Cookie Handling

All, Here is another interesting issue that I have encountered while trying to process cookies in Zope. On a different app. server I have a Java class which generates an encrypted cookie when a user logs into the site. When the user navigates over to my Zope site, I wish to check the value of the UID. I do this by retrieving the cookie within the following snippet of DTML: <dtml-if "REQUEST.cookies.has_key('UID')"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('cookie', REQUEST.cookies.values())"> <dtml-var "validateCookie(REQUEST, REQUEST['REMOTE_ADDR'])"> </dtml-if> This DTML calls a DTML method (validateCookie) which in turn is calling the following External Python Method: import xmlrpclib, base64 def validateUID(self, REQUEST, ipaddr): cookie = REQUEST.get('cookie') servlet = xmlrpclib.Server("http://salesnet-dev.appl.ge.com/geaservlet/X mlRpcTest") cookie = repr(cookie) cookie = cookie[2:] cookie = cookie[:-2] return servlet.validateCookie.check(cookie, ipaddr) This XML-RPC call attempts to invoke the Java decrypt method. Herein lies the problem: Upon investigation of the value contained in the UID cookie, Zope returned the following: \316\313\321\310\316\315\314\311\321\312\316\317\317\223\310\321\315\317\313 \316\317' If I print out each character created during the Java encrypt method, the following values are returned: \206\203\209\200\etc.etc. A colleague of mine pointed out that Zope was returning the values in Octal rather than decimal. Is this behavior by design? Is there another mechanism I can use to retrieve the raw cookie value before Zope places it in a dictionary? Rather than code a string parsing routine in Java, are there any suggestions as to how to convert each character back to decimal, or obtain the string prior to being converted into octal? Problems with nested ZClasses

Overview I am trying to put an XML structure into a Zope product that mirrors the hierarchy. The dtd for the XML is roughly of the form <!ELEMENT nodes (node)*> <!ELEMENT node (node|leaf)*> <!ELEMENT leaf (object)*> <!ELEMENT object EMPTY> The 4 elements share several attributes and each has some unique attributes. So the intent is to group the common attributes in a couple of property pages and create an property page for each individual element. The desired ZClass representation is as follows: container (object manager) base () {to contain common property pages} nodes (object manager, base) node (object manager, base) leaf (object manager, base) object() I build the hierarchy, set permissions as follows and do the factory edit button trick container - add_nodes nodes - add_node node - add_node, add_twigs twigs - add_objects I instantiate a container, add a nodes object to the container, add a node to th nodes. At this point I can only add twigs though I think I should be able to add nodes. I thought I would look at the SubOjbects list however the only object that appears in the Subobjects list is nodes. Am I missing something here? I have tried countless permutations with and without the base class, deriving base from object manager etc... I think one of my prior iterations actually worked but without the base class concept though I seem unable to reproduce it now... Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Bob

Dear Zopers, Has anyone used the Ad Banner product and an affiliate program??? Problem is that these usually require you to retrieve the image from their site for tracking purposes etc. Any solutions??? The code is too ugly to release, but I do hope to be working on it over the next few weeks. There are a couple of other folks on the list interested in CORBA as well -- I'll CC them in case they have gotten further off the dime than I have, and would therefore be able to bump your comfort factor up a bit higher. efficient internal redirect

I have some pages within zope which are linked to externally (from non-zope pages). I want to have some sort of internal index so that I can move the zope pages around completely within zope (move a page and change its index) without breaking or having to change the external in-pointing links. This mechanism will come into play for nearly every page in my system so I'm looking for the most efficient code to do this. My thinking about possibilities for the index :- methods in a folder properties of a folder properties of a dtml-doc some other sort of data structure For the redirection its obviously more efficient to do it something like dtml-var rather than redirect back to the client but (as my other posts show) I'm often really struggling to get my object references right (only partial understanding - looking forward to better documentation) I'd appreciate some help here too.
