ZClasses and scope...

Okay, I *think* I am beginning to grok zclasses, but I have a couple of questions: What is the scope/namespace of a ZClass' methods? In my tests, I cannot access other methods of the same ZClass. I *can* access methods in parent folders of my ZClass, but not the current folder. Ie: Create ZClass called zcTest. Create two methods in this ZClass, called index_html and test. Neither can see the other. Secondly, when I try to access anything off of instances of my zclass except for property sheets, I get access denied. Hi Zopistas, Thank you for the answers. My problem arose because I was passing a DTML Method a list of strings: [ 'PARENTS[-1]', 'FolderA', ...]. And while I could do: <dtml-with "_( folderObject=_.getitem('FolderA'))"> I could not do the same with 'PARENTS[-1]'. The simple solution suggested by your answers is to just pass the objects themselves (duh!): [ PARENTS[-1], FolderA, ...]. But out of curiosity I'm still wondering if there is a way to refer to the root folder by name so one could write _.getitem( 'rootFolderName' ) Andres Corrada

Sure, you just need to trace my previous postings. :) SyBase adapter has two specific problems that I have ran into. They are both 100% reproduceable and both have been reported to the Collector. One of them is now fixed for Zope 2.1.5 (the _validTime thing.) The other one still sits still waiting for Digicool to fix it. If I say the development of the adapter has been slow, it's because it's been slow. If I alone have been able to find (and fix) two problems and one limitation, somehow I don't think they are the only problems and limitation. :) Some of the bugs are later found independently by other people, too. (See below.) Many people also say that they have zero problems with Microsoft Windows. I guess they just have been lucky. Ha ha. But just because one person is lucky, it doesn't mean the rest of the world is equally lucky. :) Let me teach you how to para-phrase your question: "Can you provide more specific details? MIMETools question... again

Hello. Many thanks to all for your answers on my recent question about MIMETools. Really, tag  is implemented now, and works, but... I need sending mail with multiple file attachement... Combination of several tags  working... When I tryed insert tag  into tag , Zope said: "Unexpected tag, for tag  is only meaningful in the context of the  tag. We have loss of this context? How do I set properties from DTML? (Repost)

I'm reposting due to mail problems ... I'm working on a thing I'll probably call "ZBox"; it's a "widget method" that creates HTML-table based boxes on the screen that can be maximized and minimized, like the ones on some of the big web portals. My first simple try with just using Folders, two methods, and properties, worked quite well. I created a method that looks up whether the box is minimized or maximized and renders it respectively. The box itself is a (currently empty) folder that has a property "max" that can be "show" or "hide" (could also be boolean, but I'm thinking of other states like "just show headlines"). The content would then be rendered by other methods that are called in a "content" method by the "box" method. Using those boxes on the site curently looks like this (for a folder "news_box" containing the content): <dtml-with news_box> <dtml-var box> </dtml-with> The problem I could not solve with my very limited Zope knowledge is how to "switch" the boxes from minimized to maximized et vice versa. In other words, I'd need a DTML expression that I can put into a method that is called by a hyperlink on the "minimize/maximize" button to switch the property state and then returns the site again. The two problems are: How can I set a property in DTML (REQUEST.set won't work as far as I can see it)? Namespaces could be quite tricky with that. Where should one put the method to update the property status? The tricky thing is that after the update the site from where the request came has to be re-rendered! I know I could switch to cookies or SQL-based stuff. But that wouldn't make the solution flexible for use with Zope objects. Am I on the right path? If the whole thing doesn't work out that way I could try using my own tree tag version that renders a box instead of the "+"/"-" stuff). Doesn't sound that easy. Thanks a lot for suggestions! Restart Problems...

expression evaluateion

Hi, Zope seems to evaluate expressions in an unconventional way. Say I have three properties, a=3, b=5, c=7 set in a Folder. In a DTML Document I tried to say <dtml-var "a/b*c"> and got result 0. The expression was evaluated as a/(b*c) and rounded off. Is not the expression supposed to be evaluated as (a/b)*3? The result is not correct still if we put it this way: <dtml-var "(a/b)*3">. I still got 0 as the result. Did I miss anything fundamentally or is this a, bug? Chien-pin

How does one refer to the root folder?

Hi Zopistas, Does one call it "PARENTS[-1]"? I'm trying to get an attribute of the root folder and I'm failing with the syntax- <dtml-with "rootObject=_.getitem('PARENTS[-1]')"> I now that the failure is because the object in the namespace is "PARENTS". Help decipher a server error

After running a couple of Zope sites during development for about a month (Zope 2.1.4 installed from source, ZServer on port 8080, ZMySQLDA, PythonMethods, RedHat 6.1), we've seen the server report the following error while running in debug mode (-D) a couple of times: ERROR(200) ZServer uncaptured python exception, closing channel <zhttp_server listening :8080 at 81f5b90> (exceptions.TypeError:unpack non-sequence [usr/local/zope/2-1-4s/ZServer/medusa/asyncore.py|handle_read_event|285] [/usr/local/zope/2-1-4s/ZServer/medusa/asyncore.py|poll|59] [/usr/local/zope/2-1-4s/ZServer/medusa/http_server.py|handle_accepet|609]) Is there someone who is familiar with the innards of ZServer who can give me some idea of what is causing these?
