passing arguments from dtml methods to SQL methods

Hi, Thanks for previous help on the namespace variable '_', much appreciated! I have another problem though, how does one pass parameters between DTML methods, and from dtml methods to ZSQL methods? I have a DTML method "getSearchResults" that gets called when a form is posted using <FORM... action="getSearchResults"> <INPUT NAME="fname" </FORM> The method gets called and magically the form fields like fname described in the above form are accessible from the dtml method, so I can do <dtml-var fname> and there's the input from the user. (I still don't fully understand how that bit of black magic works...) Ok, then I have a ZSQL method with fname as an argument, and again, when my dtml method calls the zsql method, that variable fname can be accessed using <dtml-var fname> in the SQL query. While maybe I don't completely understand what's happening, I can still use it. The problem now is, my ZSQL method needs to have an argument "tablename" that it can use so that a different table can be selected, however, this tablename is not under the user's direct control. It gets set according to some choices that the user makes along the way. I would hence need to "declare" it in the dtml method "getSearchResults", initialise it, and pass it to the ZSQL method so that the ZSQL method can use it. I tried doing the following: (suppose the ZMYSQL method's id is "searchMySQL"). in the dtml method: <dtml-if expr="whatever"> <dtml-var name="getSearchResults(fname=fname, tablename='suppname')"> </dtml-if> So that didn't work, but maybe it describes what I'm trying to do - that is, fname exists and is initialised from the user's form input, but I want to create the variable tablename, and pass it to another method (or just create in the namespace space so that it's accessible to other methods). Sorry to be so long-winded, trying my best to describe things with my very limited knowledge of zope/python. Many thanks Allen

Collector Update

After a quick review of the Collector, I have modified it such that the details of "normal" bugs/features are immediately visible to anonymous users. We hope that this information will make life simpler for the Zope community, and that we will be able to work toward a steady resolution of the open issues. I also added a checkbox to the submission form for issues which you believe to be security-related. These issues will be tagged with a special status, and not immediately visible to anonymous users. We intend to re-mark such issues as quickly as possible, but would like to have an opportunity to assess them before publicizing them. Thanks to all who feed the Collector's voracious maw! Zope + Linux + Microsoft SQL Server7 ?

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to get access to a Microsoft SQL Server 7 from Zope running under Linux (e.g. via ODBC). What additional products are eventually needed ? Thanks for answers S. Accessing module functions and variables

Hi, Is it possible, from isnside Zope, to access to functions and variables that are defined in a module used to create a Product? I'm not speaking about external methods but a module that could be use for example to also define classes. I have seen register*Class for various classes in ProductContext, but nothing specific for functions or variables. Thanks

Zope install & ./start problem...

installing PIL and Photo

I installed Zope 2.1.6, the product called Photo, a full version of Python 1.5.2, and PIL on a RedHat 5.2 system. When I bring up Zope, the product Photo says it is broken (in the Product Management page in the Control Panel). I created a directory called site_packages in /usr/lib/python1.5, copied the PIL directory to there (/usr/lib/python1.5/site_packages/PIL), put a PIL.pth file in /usr/lib/python1.5/site_packages which has one line ("PIL") I removed the zope/bin/python file, and changed the start file to use /usr/bin/python Now if I execute python and do this....
