Files, and their whereabouts

Greetings, I am currently modifying the Image object (patch to follow soon), and found something confusing. What is the difference between files in the lib/python/App directory, and those in the lib/python/OFS ? Obviously their content, but what is the intended function of files in each directory? From what i saw on the App directory, it looked to be the image object. But when my changes didn't take effect, an rgrep showed that what i wanted to mess with was in OFS. I've not done a lot of hacking about with ZOPE source before, so please excuse my ignorance if what I'm asking should be clear. (o8 -- Have a better one, Curtis. <dtml-var standard_work_disclaimer>

Header/Sidebar question

Hello, Can someone provide me with a sample of how they are doing the Header and Side Bars on their websites? It seems to me that it could be done with a STANDARD_HTML_HEADER approach, but I am at a loss. I don't know how to include the main text to each STANDARD_HTML_HEADER so that the text is side by side with the side bar. Thanks ahead of time for your help, Luis.

Thanks again for your time kevin. I appreciate your help a great deal. After inhereiting CatalogAware in all my classes I can now see the main catalog when I add a Zsearch interface. I haved renamed some of my variables to match standard naming conventions, namely "title" and "summary". so without adding anything to the meta data table there should still be some functionality. So, the catalog gets updated with this new record (the fresh install of my product), and reads successfully that 1 record is in each of the meta data tables. All good so far. Now, within my product, when I add a person, the table does not say 2 records. Also, searches for that new person are unsuccessful. I am curious if I need to do any specific calls to inform zope or Catalog of the 'person' objects when they are created. Do the person objects neet to inherit some kind of generic zope object? Currently it only inherits: Persistent, Implicit, CatalogAware. As it is you don't see the person objects in the "contents" view of the management screens, and I want it to stay that way. sybase stored procedures in zope

Hello, I would like to use sybase stored procedures in zope but it seems that the database connection is getting strange (I get either "unexpected result" or something like "request is still open") after starting such a request and/or starting the next request. Has anybody experience if and how stored procedures can be used at all within zope? Thanks in advance for any help, Andrea

In the ZClass add method, I create the new instance, then pass this instance to another DTML method to do the cloning. Could you shed some light on where the ZClass instantiation transaction ends? I used an HTML form to get to the DTML method that would do the cloning, thinking that the submittal of a form would create another request, thus ending the current transaction. Apparently I'm confused about the difference between doing this and redirecting. Could you post a code snippet or two of how you did it? Thanks, Erik

GUF question

Hello all, I recently downloaded and installed GUF and am having a strange problem. I followed the walkthrough and successfully created a folder that only the user "jorge" can access. Thinking life was good at that point, I decided to try and add additional GUF users and give them access to the protected folder. I made the appropriate additions to the userAuthenticate, userList, and userRoles methods (the dtml methods found within the acl_users folder) and was unable to log in and access the protected folder as anyone other than "jorge". I then decided to backtrack a bit and removed the modifications I had made, and verified that "jorge" could still log in and access the folder. I then renamed "jorge" to "bama" in the above GUF dtml methods, restarted the Zope server (I am running NT, after all ;-) ), and was unable to log in as "bama". For the heck of it I tried to log as "jorge". No dice. I then renamed "bama" back to "jorge" and was again able to access the protected folder as "jorge". Obviously I am missing something. Shouldn't I be able to add users to the provided GUF dtml methods? And why the heck couldn't I simply rename "jorge" to "bama"? -=Brad=-
