I'd like to setup a user security environment similiar to that used on the Zope site. Users can signup, and login to access personal pages and logout when done. However, I'm a bit confused about things. Perhaps I don't understand enough of the underlying security model. Additionally, the how-to, FAQ and other docs are difficult to follow. Has anyone published a sample like this? Or, perhaps, has the Digital Creation people can provide the source to the DTML pages and methods? Any pointers would be fantastic. sorry for spamming the list with loser questions but this one has had me stumped for hours and I am not even sure what to look for anymore: <dtml-call "z958063364.manage_changeProperties({'children' : 90})"> this line is in a dtml method in a folder with a lot of instances of a class. one instance is: z958063364 the class has a property sheet with a property called children I want to change its value. Eventually I want to have it dynamically fill in the gaps so that it will calll any particular instance with something like this: <dtml-call "_['parent_id'].manage_changeProperties({'children' : gchildren+12})"> but as it doesn't even work hard coded yet, I can't test that! thanks again, and I hope I can repay the debt if I ever get my head round zope! josh oN

installing zope on virtual host help needed please

after searching thru the list archives, zope.org and zdp.zope.org i have found conflicting instructions for installing zope on a virtual host. can anybody point me in the right direction? accessing objects through variables

Hello all, Using DTML, not Python, is it possible to access an object using a variable holding the name of the object you want to access? Example: MainFolder |------DTMLdoc |------SubFolder |------DTMLform |------SubSubFolder1 |------index_html |------SubSubFolder2 |------index_html If DTMLform calls DTMLdoc with a REQUEST variable set to the name "SubSubFolder1", how do you access index_html in SubSubFolder1 using that variable? Perhaps some users can shed some light on how to use third party web publishing/design/layout tools such as Dreamweaver, Frontpage (God forbid), Allair Homesite, etc, with Zope. [rh]As long as they speak ftp with your Zope server, you'll be able to use them (even Frontpage, or at least Frontpage light). Dreamweaver works well (see Chris Withers' post on the thread you mentioned before for details); the only problem is it will not recognize 'files' without extension (if employed cleverly this may be turned into an advantage) . Homesite works very well in my experience (it doesn't speak dtml though, but then again nothing does ;-( ). Many of these tools have their own way of managing websites. Does this mean we have to "disable/ignore" these features, and just treat Dreamweaver/Frontpage/etc as a layout and design tool, and thus not benefit from the "libraries" or "template" functions? [rh]Yep, unless you're prepared to hack your way around. On the other hand: the template and library functions are taken over by Zope, only in a usually more sophisticated and maintainable fashion. <snip 2-4, someone else may answer this better than me> Rik

My webserver have been setting date-time : "Asis/Taipei" , but the ZOPE showed "US/Central" . Why ? How to correct it ?

Hi Zopers! I've tested this products and all is working ok with filters. I've problems with authentication with both products. With both products I get an error somewhere in "<user> exception on connect". The products see the users but are not able to authenticate. This problem happens both with mssiteserverldap and openldap. So I think the problem is with the fact that I'm testing this on a winNT. Since both products use the ldapmodule(.pyd and .ddl files), I'm starting to believe there is something wrong with my modules(I'm using the binary versions). The Ldap server's structure are ok, so... :-( Did anyone experienced this problems using this products on NT? Does anyone have any compiled modules different than the ones available that I can use to test. Thanx. filling selection lists

Hi all! I want to fill a selection list depending on the selection of a first selection list (both selection lists are filled via sql-methods). E.g. you choose topic "abc" from list one and list 2 changes dynamically. whats the best way to realize this? Thanks in advance Harald
