ZClass in ZClass problem

Hello! I started to learn ZClasses. I created a product, added a Zclass in it, and added a Zcalss inside outer ZClass - I want to create ZClass that's addable only inside outer ZClass. Then the problems begin. All management URLs for inner ZClass contain %20, so URLs look like "propertysheets/methods/RandomZItem%20/manage_workspace" and "propertysheets/methods/RandomZItem_add%20/manage_workspace". If I click on the link I got the AttributeError (of course). When I manually remove the offending %20, I can manage the object, but it's tiresome to remove it every time. The problem manifested on both 2.1.4 and 2.2.0b3. What's wrong? Oleg. Just to start by pointing out the bloody obvious: - Restoring from backup means you lose all data between backup date/time and system failure. Sucks, but it beats losing *all* your data. (RAID5 anyone?) - With that in mind, *consistency* of the backup database takes the highest priority. All existing transactions should be fully completed - no half-done updates, etc. It seems to me that the easiest way to get there with ZODB might be to just make a simple file copy of the database and have some kind of integrity checking tool to run against the static backup copy to weed out the junk. Is this possible, does it already exist? Probably a dumb question, but would Zope itself do this if you fired it off against an inconsistent ZODB? Another random thought is that if ZODB transactions and writes are atomic, than none of this should be an issue. ZPatterns: Deleting objects from a Rack?

Ok, I have a stupid question. I have succeeded in creating a ZClass (a subclass of DataSkin) and instantiating a few instances in the defaultRack of my Specialist using my Specialist's newItem() method. Rock. However, search as I might, I cannot figure out how to delete an item once it's been created. On gut instinct, I figured there would be a deleteItem() to complement the newItem() method. No such luck. What am I missing? Is there a management tab I'm not clicking on somewhere? A method I haven't found? A clue I don't have? :-) Thanks, --Jeff --- Jeff K. dhtml-try broken in 2.2.0b3?

I was porting some stuff that had a dtml-try to the newest Zope (2.2.0b3) and I had problems with a dtml-try block. I tried a fresh install and had the same problem. To reproduce, create a DHTML method with <dtml-try> <dtml-var "1/0"> <dtml-except> <h4>It blew up</h4> </dtml-try> Accessing the document errors out with... Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. What happened was somebody noticed that a number in the URL for a page of their details matched their ID number, and tried some others. Upon finding they worked, he wrote a script to try numbers, munge the page, and e-mail people their details. This showed a serious flaw in the design of the site, but it was not 'hacked'. no, but I have since worked out how do it... I think. The problem is that the DateTime module of mxODBC is compiled. It needs to be renamed or repackaged to prevent the name confict. Then it needs to be recompiled. On unix I don't think this is very hard. However I am windows and this will require me to install MSVC and learn how to compile a python module dll from c code. This is not something I've had the time for. So if you or anyone else has achieved this or wants to give it a go I would dearly love a copy of the resulting dll. Kid clicking and Zope thread deadlock

Yikes, I was affraid that I might get kid clicking problems in Zope. And now I got it. Help is needed. "Kid clicking" is a technical term used in multimedia game programs, referring to firing multiple click events quickly. The most scary part is that under intense clicking, a multi-threaded program would go into dead-lock. I have a Zope application running. When I kid-click on one button, it actually locks Zope up. This error does not happen when I run Zope in single-thread mode. So, for the bug seems to come from Zope thread dead-locking. Good thing is that it is reproducible. So I will start to trace the origin of the deadlock, all the way down into Zope internals if necessary. But help will be appreciated. My Zope is 2.1.6. More info: it happens both with Netscape and IE. More info: when kid clicking on the webpage, actual requests are sent to the Zope server, I see from the terminal 4 lines about 2000-06-30T00:29:43 PROBLEM(100) ZSybaseDA Changed database context to 'master'. Changed database context to 'mydatabase'. and it then goes into deadlock. Not sure whether it's Sybase or Zope problem. By the way: how can browsers be so stupid as to send requests out for each repeated button click? Shouldn't them lock up the webpage right away? Browsers do lock up after an anchor is clicked, but why don't they lock up after a button is clicked??!!
