gif getting dumped...

Hey all, I know this isn't exactly a zope question, but it is occuring in my zope site so here goes: I have a gif file (a company logo) that I use on pdf files. The pdf's are created by a python app that I wrote which uses report lab. This python app is called from my zope site. Everything works great until the nightly back up of the database (Oracle). The cron job shuts zope down, backs up the db and then restarts zope. the problem is that the logo (the gif) doesn't get reloaded. so every morning I have to bounce zope to reload the gif. I have determined that the shuting down and restarting of zope is not the problem but it appears that it is the oracle backup. Any thoughts, DR

SECURITY: Zope security alert and hotfix product...

Hi all - We have recently become aware of an important security issue that affects all released Zope versions prior to 2.2.1 beta 1. The issue involves the fact that the getRoles method of user objects contained in the default UserFolder implementation returns a mutable Python type. Because the mutable object is still associated with the persistent User object, users with the ability to edit DTML could arrange to give themselves extra roles for the duration of a single request by mutating the roles list as a part of the request processing. While we know of no instances of this issue being used to exploit a site, we *highly* recommend that any Zope site running versions of Zope prior to 2.2.1 have this hotfix product installed to mitigate the issue if the site is accessible by untrusted users who have DTML editing privileges. A hotfix for this issue in the form of an add-on Zope product has been made available on zope.org. To install the hotfix, simply download and install the package as you would any other Zope add-on product (extract it in the root of your Zope installation). Remember to restart your Zope installation for the hotfix to take effect. http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/Hotfix_08_09_2000/Hotfix_08_09_2000.tg z The hotfix will work for all versions of Zope 2.0 and higher. The forthcoming Zope 2.2.1 beta 1 release will contain the fix for this issue, and you be able to uninstall the hot fix after upgrading to 2.2.1 beta 1 or higher (though nothing bad will happen if you don't uninstall it). Why is 'Shutdown' an Error?

Another start-up question. Splitting ZSQL results across pages

I'd like to split the output of a ZSQL query across different instances of a page in the same fashion as zope.org does with ZCatalog output, but I can't for the life of me find any documentation on how it's done. Does anyone know the magic incarntations or where the documents are? Thanks, John

ZClass inheriting from image question

Hello, I am still working on my "users preferences" I mentioned earlier. For now I will stay with the standard acl_users as they seem to offer everything I currently need to authenticate the user. On the other side, I am creating a new ZClass that will be used to store the user information in properties. As I finally also want to store the picture of the user, I decided to create ZClass that will subclass _ZClass_for_Image. I want to change the default way the ZClass renders it's information. I want more than simply a picture so I crated a new method "index_html" in my ZClass. My question is: How do I display the picture from this index_html method? Thank you for your help. Wrap or not wrap i Zope source

Maybe my friends at the zope mailing list can help me before I crash my Zope installation. ] What I want to do is simple. But doing it can be tough. Problems with LDAPmodule on sunos5

I have created Zope site on Linux wich uses external methods to access LDAP. I transferred my site to Solaris8/sunos5 but i can't manage to get LDAPmodule working on sunos. Finally after two days of work and with pretty slick manouvers, i managed to build LDAPmodule (archive.csee.uq.edu.au/~leonard/dc-prj/ldapmodule/) on sunos, but there something wrong in the module. On linux there no problems and building is easy as taking candy from children. SiteAccess-Apache: passing HOST header

ZClass

Hi Zopists, I have created a ZClass (TestClass) with an external python function 'foo'. Now I would like to create an instance (myTest) of my TestClass in a dtml template and call its method foo. When I put the code below <dtml-let myTest="_['Control_Panel']['Products']['TestProduct']['TestClass']"> <dtml-var "myTest.foo()"> </dtml-let> I can see this error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: __call__ When I looked at the returned type of myTest.foo, the Zope says that it is an instance of Folder. Can anybody help me how to call create instances of ZClasses programatically only in the name-space (not in ZODB) and call their functions?
