In-tag Batch processing

Perhaps a stupid question, But how can you provide a link to the next batch of items at the start of the batch table? or : assume you have a result from a query, which is shown in batches of 5 items and you want to be able to allow the users to choose a page. How can you show these possible selections, before you show a batch? I tried several things, but I can only show it a the end of a batch but not at the beginning of a batch Thanks, Tom

zope2.2.0 and what is high load

oo zopistas i have a question. being a small time site maintainer, i don't quite know how to classify the situation i'm having now. the site is front ended with apache, with mod_pcgi2. zope 2.2.0 (running with -t 25) and rh 6.2 how can i know that the load i'm having is a big load? i've been getting more than 200 simultaneos connections(ps ax|grep http|wc -l) and that affect the response time. if the connection is less than 150, then zope's response time is great. my Q: what do you BIG SITE admin have? do you encounter slow down? i need some sort of verification that more than 200 simultaneous connect is really a big load. i hope not to have to resort to other costly and proprietery solutions just because of my ignorance. i know table design does affect loading time, and that will be tackled. cache is an option that i've looked at but have to disregard for now since i can't get ie to behave. i know of the how to and will be looking at it. i've scaled the site (was once more than 400 connections at one time) with ZEO to two servers. i now hope to have insights from yu BIG SITE admins looking forward to your input, help, and pointers. i'll try and document every thing and put a howto. thanks

application/octet-stream vs. application/msword

Hi Zopers How does Zope recognize the type of a file? Mostly it recognizes .doc's correctly as 'application/msword', but sometimes they turn up as 'application/octet-stream'. Others, like .fh8 (Freehand) and .exe (self-extracting zip) are (unsurprisingly) also turning up as 'application/octet-stream'. The files are being added using <input type=hidden name=":method" value="manage_addProduct/OFSP/fileAdd"> Can Zope be taught more types? Failing that, I guess I should try to catch the extension using "find(S, SUB[, START])" on the id (which is the filename). -- jean

DTML script (or python method) to change the object type of

Sendmail Tag - No Buffer Space

Anyone have an idea what could cause this error when attempting to send email? Besides the header, the email is only one line of plain text (no dtml). Sendmail is running on port 25 and works okay. Zope security: manager role unable to add class instances

Imagine a Zope-hosting ISP with a single ZODB. A user Daz signs up for webhosting and sends in his custom products and Zope tree. The ISP installs said data as follows: root Control_Panel Products dazProduct dazClass1 dazClass2 acl_users (user daz with Manager role) subroot (daz's Zope tree) acl_users (user daz with Manager role) index_html The site works fine. The problem is that daz is unable to create new instances of his classes - the add methods lack the permission to call manage_editProperties. In contrast, "superuser" *is* able to add instances. I can get around this problem my giving the constructors the proxy role of Manager, but I'd really like to understand why this is happening. Any info is much appreciated. Cheers, Darran.

Kapil, I don't know if you've run across this yet, but the method call: get_transaction() In Python (after you've imported the ZODB module) returns the result of the get_transaction global, which helps do some transaction-related things: get_transaction().commit() get_transaction().abort() get_transaction().note() There are also semantics for committing subtransactions, though I'm not real clear on them. I *think* you commit a subtransaction by doing: get_transaction().commit(1) See Jim's ZODB UML model at http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Developer/Models/ZODB for more info. Install problems on FreeBSD

Please help! Install problems on FreeBSD I've installed ZOPE several times before on different systems (win98, NT, Linux) for testing purposes. Always logged in as 'root' I never encountered any problems. Recently I finally decided to upgrade my web-site to a ZOPE-Site and that's when the trouble started. Without the root privilege I had experienced every single problem possible. But finally I managed to build both python and ZOPE. The OS is FreeBSD 4.0-stable and I used both the binary and source package. I how ever can not start neither of them. All I get is a bunch of error messages. I also would like to use ProxyPass and ProxyPassReverse configuration. Do I use w_pcgi.py or wo_pcgi.py to build ZOPE. I think since I will not be using pcgi it should be the latter. I am including the junk I got after trying to start ZOPE. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
