Works fine as a desktop machine. Kind of a pain to plug/unplug the cables all the time. I can run a couple of zopes, pgsql, heck I even had Oracle on it for a while. You might need a bit more oomph for java development. The problem with the laptop is probably not the CPU/ram (well, get 64MB ram if you can) but the screen resolution and the pointer. Zope at 600x800 is tight. The little eraser-head pointer is a pain, and Zope development tends to need a lot of mouse action. I usually carry along a mouse. Even on the desktop (i.e with a monitor and keyboard plugged in) I am limited to 1024x768 8-bit color with a bad refresh rate. -- cary

Folks - How do I execute SQL statements such as select count(*) from db_table? I'm running zope 2.2 with the SybaseDA 2.0b2. My connection to the database works fine, ie select * from small_table where amount>1000 produces a valid result set. Getting single values out of lists

Hi, I have a page wich is created out of a database. For every artikel (item) I have a description and a number of available items. The page has multiple rows (depending on the database content) in every row is a input-box in wich the user can enter a number. This number needs to be substracted from the available items number of the correct artikel. My question is how can I get the correct tuple of items out of the list. For example In every row I have the substract box and a hidden field with the primary key: <input type="text" size=5 value="" name=substract> <input type="hidden" value="<dtml-var artikel_id>" name="artikel_id"> When I submit the Form I get with the following lines <dtml-in "REQUEST.form.items()" sort> <dtml-var sequence-key>:<dtml-var sequence-item><br> </dtm-in> the content substract = ['12', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', ''] artikel_id = ['20000808095658', '20000808095503', '20000808095341', '20000808095744', '20000731135126', '20000808092056', '20000808092333', '20000808092723', '20000808095232', '200007311227'] and this is correct. This means that a user has entered 12 for the artikel_id 20000808095658. How can I get the single values, so that I can use them? ZClass property that is a map

It's my understanding that this can only be done in python in the Products subfolder. I did something like this with David Murray's help for a BannerProduct. I modified an existing python-based banner class and added two "maps" to each banner object called 'history_views' and 'history_clicks' indexed by a date. new checkbox when adding a zclass in zope 2.2.0

Hello, in zope 2.2.0, when adding a new zclass the management-screen includes a checkbox "Include standard Zope persistent object base classes?". What does exactly this option do ?????? I could not find any differences between adding a zclass with selected checkbox and adding a zclass with not-selected checkbox.....??? thank you in advance, nico

My colleague had a dtml document turn itself into a folder. When we try to delete it we get a "CorruptedDataError". Any thoughts on how to kill the offending vermin? DR
