How do I add a property to created objects?

Hi, hope someone can point me to the right direction with this: I want to add an object using DTML. To do this I create a method 'addanewFolder' (not in a product, but somewhere in the document tree): === cut here === <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('ts', ZopeTime())"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('id', _.str(_.int(ts)))"> <dtml-with "manage_addFolder(REQUEST['id'])"> <dtml-call "manage_addProperty('testproperty', 'a value here', 'string')"> </dtml-with> === cut here === This gets the folder added, but does not add the property to the folder created, but to the PARENT directory. The 'with' clause should direct manage_addProperty method to deal with the new object? TIA, kristofer

Permission problem with my own zClass.

I have made a zClass called "newsProduct" that is articles with predefined properties. It works nicely when I am logged on as an Administrator. I can add articles. No problem. I also have a site with the following structure root news I want some users to be able to add "news" articles in the "news" folder. This I can do by making a user folder in the "news" folder and setting the users as administrators, but I do NOT want them to be able to add anything but articles. So that is a bad idea. Thus I want to make a new role called "author" that can only add articles. in the news-folder. I have made a user in the "news" userfolder, and given this user the "author" role. In the news folder I have also checked the box "add newss" under "author" (a single article is also called "news" in the management interface). My test_author can logon nicely, seeing the "news" folder as the root. And under the "To add an item select an item type" select box, 2 products turn up "Z Gadfly Database Connection"(No idea why!) & "News". But when I select "news" a login prompt pops up. I cannot login as test_author, so I cannot create any news in the "news folder." Does anybody has any ideas about what more I need to set in order to make the "author" role able to create articles. For example in 1.6 strings have methods, which may or may not have an impact on DTML safety. This is also the case for Python 2.0. uploading Word files to Zope

Hey everyone, Does anyone have any experience with allowing users to upload MS Word files to your Zope server and make them available through your site. Specifically I'm wondering about using wv (formerly mswordview) to convert the Word file to HTML (and a DTML Document, I suppose) and publish that. Hi, I'm just discovering Zope and it seems to have a lot of promise. I'm a front end designer/developer and I'm hoping Zope will allow me to create a database driven site without too much fuss. The database is small, but moderately complex. I'm pretty sure it needs to be relational, as opposed to a tiny table. I feel strange, asking such basic questions, but I don't really know where to get started. I know a little bit about relational databases, but only a little. I've seen in the zope tutorial that you can send an SQL query to the database and use it to populate a list, but where do you build the initial database? I have MS Access. Do I build something in that on my desktop and upload it somewhere? Do I create a form to create the db from scratch? Is there somewhere I can read about all this (in a nice Tutorial, step-by-step fashion)? Would it help if I described the functionality I'm looking for? Thanks, Micah

Simple dtml-unless problem

I have the following code in my standard_html_header <dtml-unless "id == 'index_html'"> <img src="<dtml-var path>/images/transparent.gif" width=400 height=12 alt=""> <H1 align="center"><dtml-var title></h1> </dtml-unless> The problem is, it displays the <img> and <h1> stuff even when the page that the standard_html_header is being dropped into is index_html. I'm pretty sure I'm missing something really silly here, but if anyone could point it out, I'd really appreciate it. cheers tim
