BUG: 2.3.0 Final? - ZCatalog

When importing a .zexp from a (2.2.5) site into 2.3.0 I get the below traceback (reproduceable). I have imported other apps with catalogs that did not generate this error. I was able to narrow it down to one particular folder with a catalog. Problem with cut and paste

Hi, I'm trying to modify OFS/dtml/main.dtml and OFS/CopySupport.py in order to create a shortcut button to cut an object and paste it in the parent object in one click, because I think this may save lots of boring clicks, at least for me. When I call the following method from the management interface (main.dtml) then I receive this error: "The data in the clipboard could not be read, possibly due to cookie data being truncated by your web browser. Try copying fewer objects." But when I call if from a PythonScript it works fine. My method, bound to a MoveUp button of my own: --CUT--- def manage_moveupObjects(self, ids=None, REQUEST=None): """Moves the selected objects to the parent objets (e.g. Folder)""" if ids is None and REQUEST is not None: return eNoItemsSpecified elif ids is None: raise ValueError, 'ids must be specified' if type(ids) is type(''): ids=[ids] if hasattr(self, 'aq_parent') and hasattr(self.aq_parent, 'manage_pasteObjects') : cb_copy_data = self.manage_cutObjects(ids, REQUEST) return self.aq_parent.manage_pasteObjects(cb_copy_data, REQUEST) ---CUT--- If I call self.aq_parent.manage_pasteObjects with None as the first parameter then it works fine from the management interface but not from a PythonScript: I receive a "No clipboard data found" error. Thus, in your case, "uploaded_file.headers['Content-Type']" should give you the content type provided the browser has sent it. By the way, most mappings (and certainly all dictionaries) provide methods "keys", "values" and "items" to obtain information about the mapping as lists. With then, you can analyse, what the browser did send you. Dieter

thanks to all those who helped me the URL passing thing! this has definitely made my zope life better. btw, were does zope store the template pages and objects? i tried do look into the folders but i could not seem to find it. is there are a way of moving this document root to a different folder? also the reason why i have so many questions is because i could not find the zope documentation set in the zope source distribution. can someone point me out the distribution so that i can read the fine manual(RTFM) instead. thanks. -------------------------------------- William Emmanuel S. Zope Entry Flame

<site design flame> Ok so under the famous heading called 'Zope Exits' there's this tiny list on the left hand margin at www.zope.org home page Surely what is missing are the key 'Into Zope' or 'Zope Entry' items? - link directly to ZBook - lnk directly to join up zope(a)zope.org mailing list. This appears through out the site. There is all that blue space which is not being intelligently used. Misleading behavior from such exceedingly smart people. Please don't misundestand me. I know you are all cranking out amazing work, super new 2.3++ versions, patches hiperdoms, zpatterns, racks etc.. You are brilliant. I love you.. but doesn't anyone here on this list or anyone at DC think its no time to at least _discuss_ the site with some creative minds. Talk to some people who understand web design + interface, talk to people who care about these tools, AND how they can should be presented. Of course I do not mean rush headlong into expensive dumbdotcom superficiality remodelling, or stuff which will slow the site down... Thasnk god those deays are behind us. On the contrary, things which express lucidity, light, fast organized presentation, awareness of users new and old, connectivity, access to relevant links, deeper smarter sorting and selection devices. We know that Zope can do it. But first review please some options and ideas. Explore ideas about how the Python and Zope home sites can, could and should be configurable, user+context color keying of sections, smarter naviagtoin, add some style [it's not 1995], Honestly it is to think freshly about both the Zope and Python sites and ask how they could efficiently be modelled as really ueseful + inspiring Python-Zope showcase sites. There is more here at stake than window dressing. BUG with a patch

Hi, the way the manage_renameObjects() method was coded made it impossible to exchange two objects ids in one pass, e.g. rename Obj1 to Obj2 and Obj2 to Obj1. The attached patch seems to correct this problem, however a better temporary id construction method is needed. I've tried to submit it to the colector but I don't know if it succeeded. hoping this will help Jerome Alet

What happened to random?

OK, got a problem with 2.3.0 and Python Script; one that breaks Membership :( In Python Methods, I can do this choose=random.choice And it works. However, in a Python Script in 2.3.0, it barfs, complaining about random not being a variable. I've tried self.rhandom, context.rhandom, and _.rhandom, and none work. Any help would be very much appreciated. Bill Anderson

Priya, First, the PTK has its own mailing list, zope-ptk(a)zope.org; you are much likelier to get useful and timely advice there about PTK-specific issues. Second, I don't think the region of code in which you have injected that line needs it; it exists solely to provide backward-compatibility with portals created before version 0.8 of the PTK. Third, I can't see anything about your code which woudl trigger a syntax error; typically, in this case, the real error would be a line or two ahead (opening but not closing a parenthesis, omitting a comma, etc. Fourth, you would typically add a new content class in a separate product, either on the filesystem or in a "through-the-web" ZClass product; mixing your stuff with PTKBase/PTKDemo means you will be forced to deal with lots of merge conflicts (and these days, I mean *LOTS*). I would recommend creating a new CVS sandbox, as described in my "State of the PTK" message today: http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope-ptk/2001-January/002258.html Then, move your 'Userdocument' module into a new Product, a "sibling" of PTKBase and PTKDemo. Register it just as 'PTKDemo.Document' is registered, and create a Wizard for it by cloning the Document wizard and "filing off the serial numbers".
