problem with ZUBB / no topic set

Hello, after installing ZUBB (ZDiscussions 0.6. right?) everything works fine with the single exception that the topic of no message gets set. That means, after posting, all messages show "(no subject)". The message preview HTML source still shows the correct value in the hidden input form tag named "title". Could the problem be a clash between the "title" form entry and the title of another Zope object? I am using ZDiscussions-0.6 and Zope 2.3.0. thanks --Oliver

Thanks Fred, On passing 'request' (why the extra argument anyway?) detecting if an object exists in a folder

What is the easy way to check if an object exists in a folder? I have a folder "testfolder" containing a single image "fff". The following DTML finds it (though I'm sure there are easier ways): <dtml-in expr="PARENTS[0].testfolder.objectValues(['Image'])"> got image '<dtml-var id>' <dtml-if expr="id=='fff'"> T1: got string <dtml-else> T1: did not see: '<dtml-var id>' </dtml-if> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('xid', _.str(id))"> <dtml-if expr="xid=='fff'"> T2: got string <dtml-else> T2: did not see: '<dtml-var id>' </dtml-if> </dtml-in> but the problem is -- both the comparisons above fail. The output on the page as I see it from my browser: got image 'fff' T1: did not see: 'fff' T2: did not see: 'fff' So how can I tell if an image of a particular name exists in a folder? The string comparison fails because whatever it is, "id" is not a string, and cannot be converted to a string, even though it really looks like some (top secret zope) code is having no problem doing such a conversion. In any case, all I'm really trying to do is to make a DTML method that will tell me if an image object of a particular name exists in a folder. Any suggestions? Thank you, JJ

SiteRoot help

There should be a book written about Siteaccess/SiteRoot/Access Rules and Proxing Apache, but right now I'm just going to have to ask the community. This is how the URL can look like before and SiteRoots are set at all. Ex. (domain 0) http://www.localserver.com:8080/projects/myfriends/peter/familyphotos Now with a SiteRoot that "replaces" http://www.localserver.com:8080/projects Ex. (domain 1) http://www.manage-your-friend-account.com/peter/familyphotos And also a SiteRoot that "replaces" http://www.localserver.com:8080/projects/peter Ex. (domain 2) http://www.peterthefriend.com/familyphotos Do you see the difference between domain 1 and domain 2 ?? Only one folder down, then there's a new SiteRoot. Now to the problem. For Peter to go to his "manage-your-friend-account.com site", he bookmarks http://www.manage-your-friend-account.com/peter/ But when he goes to that URL, the first folder he bumps into is a folder that has a SiteRoot already!! Crash!! This causes the bookmarked URL to change to the one he crashes in to. I don't want that! I want to be able to fly into a folder that has a SiteRoot in it, but not to have the SiteRoot there affect the URL I'm coming in with. How is this possible?? Any nifty workaround hack is welcomed. Hello folks, We have a project being discussed here at work where I think zope would fit nicely. I explained my thoughts on how zope fits to the project manager and all I got for my efforts was a blank stare. Obviously some miscommunication. The project is a resume "database". The user would upload resumes into a database, with some additional fields for other information related to the person. The resumes and additional fields would be searchable. The user thought it would be very interesting for them if the resumes, searching, etc were available over the Web so that field offices could access them. My thought is that this would be perfect for zope using zcatalog. Now I haven't done any work with zcatalog but it sure seems like a perfect fit. Am I on the right track here? What points can I bring to bear? Zope memory usage / cache

I have a site that has dozens of 300k+ Photo objects (http://www.zope.org/Members/Drew/Photo) When I start Zope, it uses about 10MB. It will run at around 10-12MB for days as long as I don't access any of the photos. Once I access several of the photos, it jumps up to around 50MB. The debug info says there are over 200 Photo object references. If I then do a Cache minimize, there are no longer any Photo object references, but the memory usage remains 50MB. It will stay that high indefinitely (at least as long as I have tested -- a few days), even if the site isn't accessed. If I restart, it goes back down to 10MB, and it will stay there as long as my photos aren't accessed. Is this normal behavior? It seems crazy to have Zope sucking up that much memory when those photos are hardly ever accessed. _______________________ Ron Bickers Logic Etc, Inc. rbickers(a)logicetc.com

Loading ZMySQLda on Solaris 7

Hi, After having no problems at all with Zope 2.3, and Mysql on Linux RedHad6.1 I tried getting this to work on a Solaris 7 SPARC machine with no luck. Im using: Solaris 7 (SunOS 5.7 ) GCC 2.95.1 Zope 2.3.0 ZMySQLDA 1.2 MySQL 3.22.32 compiled from source Python 1.5.2, Python 1.6, Python2.0 all compiled with thread support. When I try to load a ZMySQL object in Zope I keep getting the following error: Any ideas?
