2.3 PythonScripts problem...

Greetings, I have just made a nice fresh Zope 2.3 install, and am having an odd problem with PythonScripts. I add one from the management screen, enter the name, "add and edit", enter the code, the hit "save". Which dumps me to my index_html. If I try to go back and edit the method, I go straight to my index_html, with no management tabs or the like. This is a plain vanilla source install of Zope 2.3.0, on a RedHat box, with Zope 1.5.2, and ZMySQLDA 1.2.0, and CookieLess Sessions 0.0.5b installed. Any ideas? Have a better one, Curtis Maloney

Extremely slow connection on local network (Zope 2.2.5, Win2k)

Hi, folks-- I'm trying to set up a Zope-based intranet web site for my company, but there's a very puzzling performance issue. Basically, any attempt to connect to the server from another machine on the local network is really, really slow: for example, I just visited the default home page (the "Welcome to Zope" page that comes w/ the installation), and it took 25 seconds to load. More complex pages can take over a minute. I don't think Zope itself is running slowly, because if I log onto the server and access the site locally, it pops right up. I'm also running IIS on the same machine, and have no trouble accessing the IIS website from various hosts (I did make sure they weren't trying to use the same port -- Zope is on 8080, IIS is on 9680). Here's some info about the environment: Server Platform: ---------------- OS: Windows 2000 Professional w/ Service Pack 1 (installed w/ Norton Ghost) Hardware: Celeron 600 Mhz, 160MB RAM Quirks: I added PyXML and ReportLab to <zope_dir>\lib\python. I also added an external path with some other python packages to sys.path in z2.py. There is a separate Python 1.5.2 installation on the machine. Network: -------- Type: Ethernet 10-base-T, single subnet Router: FlowPoint DSL OSs: Mainly Windows 2000, with one Solaris box and a small but varying number of Linux, NT 4.0, and Win98 boxes. Domain Controllers (2): Windows 2000 Server running in mixed mode By the way, we have frequent performance problems with the network, but nothing nearly as severe as this. We suspect that not having enuf client licenses for Win2k Server may be part of the problem, but I don't see why that would affect Zope, especially since IIS seems to be fine. Little Zope horror story

Another little Zope horror story. You need to be worried only if you start external background processes from Zope. Today was not a good Zope day for me: Colleagues are currently installing a new firewall. Something went wrong and the Zope Webserver was frozen in connections with the backoffice behind the firewall. To get things start again, I stopped Zope and tried to restart it, but in vain! Zope continued to report "address already in use". Of cause, there was no longer any Zope process that used that port... After 1/2 hour of desparate search, I found the culprit. It was again an external background process. It had inherited the open listening socket and kept the port blocked. It, too, was frozen by the firewall and made no longer any progress. Killing the external process let Zope start again. The listening socket should get a "close_on_exec", too, as now do the request sockets. Dieter

How to get a name of uploaded file

Hello zopists, I create a small application. User enters file via web interface, and this is parsed and pushed into SQL. the input form is DTML method like this ==== DTML method: send_file == I use [] instead of <> [dtml-var standard_html_header] ... [/form] [dtml-var standard_html_footer] ====== end of file ===== The receive_file is external python method ===== receive_file, function name= rcv_file from string import strip import pg def rcv_file(self, REQUEST): ... fileobj = REQUEST.form['file'] filelist = fileobj.readlines() fileobj.close for line in filelist: (* parse line and push it into SQL server *) ... ====== end of file ==== Is there any way how to get a name of uploaded file. I mean another than let user type the name in another field. I was looking in REQUEST object and nothing about the filename found there.
