Hmm - with regard calling ZSQL method from PythonMethod, this works: def pythonmethod(self): a = [] for v in self.SQL_list_something(): a.append(v.field) return a <dtml-var pythonmethod> *But* of course I can't pass "self" over XMLRPC. Why does self.ZSQL_method() work, but: def pythonmethod(meth): a = [] for v in meth(): a.append(v.field) return a <dtml-var "pythonmethod(ZSQL_method)"> Give "__call__ not defined"? Reading ZClass properties from outside the ZClass

I have a ZClass, "MyZClass" which contains 2 propertysheets, "PublicInfo" and "PrivateInfo". PublicInfo contains Selections produced from Lists in PrivateInfo. Works wonderfully, however in the site I wish to get at the PrivateInfo items without touching an Instance of MyZClass (Its easy that way but I cannot be sure that instance will always be there). Basically I need to do something like... <dtml-in "Control_Panel.Products.XYZProduct.MyZClass.propertysheets.PrivateInfo.getProperty('MyList')"> This works when logged in as an Administrator as the Control_Panel is visible then, however for normal users it fails. Is there a way to get at these details without asking an instance? I'm assuming that the answer is no due to the security aspect but it would be preferable in this case to have the List in the ZClass rather than in the site content (perhaps in the root folder properties). I've suppose I could use a Proxy role but I wonder if there is something as simple as.. <dtml-in "MyZClass.MyList"> without doing <dtml-in "MyInstanceOfMyZClass.MyList"> Phill

Yes, I've seen that and would love to know what causes it. I didn't find out why, but it isn't doing it now. It may be to di with the Roles the user has. Arguments in URLs with bookmarks

Hi, I've just run across something sort of odd... Let's say I have a DTML Document 'x' in my site, and I am going to link to it with the following URL: http://www.mysite.com/x?arga=one&argb=two When Zope processes the URL, the query arguments arga and argb are stored in the REQUEST object, and I can refer to them in DTML like this: <dtml-var name="arga"> Now, let's say that I need to have the URL include a bookmark to a point deeper in the page. The URL now becomes: http://www.mysite.com/x#gotohere?arga=one&argb=two On RedHat, using Netscape 4.76, the query arguments get passed into the REQUEST object properly. On Windows, using either IE 5.x or Netscape 6, the query arguments seem to disappear entirely. The same behavior is also apparent using Opera 4.0b4 on RedHat. Since the query arguments don't make it into the REQUEST object, the dtml-var line above results in a KeyError. Although I could protect myself from the KeyError easily enough, what I really need is the values passed in the URL. This is using Zope 2.2.4 running on RedHat Linux, BTW. Does anyone have an idea why adding the bookmark is causing Zope to fail in parsing the URL? Is there an alternative syntax for the URL that will both pass the arguments and goto the right point on the page? Thanks, Mike. -- -- Michael W. Zope vs. Apple's WebObjects

Hi all A friend of mine knows Apple's WebOjects and Enterprise Object framework quite well and is quite impressed with it. He wants to know if there is a "nutshell" comparison between this product and Zope and how they compare (apart obviously from the eh, slight price difference!). Another problem with Login Manager

With the help from yesterday I got the Login Manager started. But if I want to change the userAuthenticate Method there was a problem. I can´t get into the Managementview of my testfolder. Always when I click on the testfolder in the Managementscreen of ZOPE, it returns the index_html of the testfolder in the viewscreen and not in the managementscreen. This problem only returns when I login with my User. With other users it doesn´t. Steffen

Hi Ty, The find machinery searches subobjects for the method 'PrincipiaSearchSource' on each object it finds in the hierarchy... DTML Methods and Documents, PythonScripts, and (believe it or not) database adapters support this method, but no other core objects do. This is probably why it's returning unhelpful results. If you define a PrincipiaSearchSource method on the objects you're looking to search, maybe the results will be better. The find machinery needs work. ;-) PS - FYI: your "newsgroup" setup makes replying to your messages kind of difficult... although it's probably because I'm using a dumb email client. I generally can't respond to your messages, I need to send new ones. hi, AS you said i installed MySQLbd-0.3.0 & ZMySQLDA-2.0.2 . When i started Zope it gave the following error.What more do we have to do ?.Please help.
