There was a discussion on the Zope-DB list about this, and I vaguely remember that ZODB was really good for objects, and that's it. Acquisition symlinks?

Hi all, I'd just like to know if there is a package available that allows acquisition symlinks. For example imagine that I have a set of files in the zope database in the folder /files. I don't want to clutter up the "Root folder". I also have a website in /website and I want to be able to access those files using acquisition. /files /website Well it would be easy if I could create a "symlink" in the root folder that says "treat files in the /files folder as if they are part of the root folder for acquistion purposes." So has anyone done/thought of doing this? Regards, Adam

mysql problem - broken ZMySQLDA

I have installed the MySQL-python-0.3.5 package on my win2k system using the readme file and it seems to work fine (can I test this?). Mysql 3.23.39-nt is installed in c:\myslq. ModuleSecurityInfo and Product registerClass

I have a product that defines a manage_addMyselfForm which has the following security declaration: from AccessControl import ModuleSecurityInfo modulesecurity = ModuleSecurityInfo() modulesecurity.declareProtected('View management screens', 'manage_addMyselfForm') modulesecurity.apply(globals()) The function manage_addMyselfForm doesn't have a docstring, and when I try to actually add the product through the web, I get "Missing doc string". Is there a missing security declaration I need? Any help appreciated. Richard

Incidentally, something not specificed in my previous message, I'm looking for DTML code to set up a date field in an HTML form. <dtml-var ZopeTime> does not give the correct date/time (it is several hours off from the server on which Zope runs. <dtml-var expr="_.DateTime()"> also does not give the correct date/time (same problem). <dtml-var expr="_.DateTime()-0.25"> does give the correct date. However, this seems to be an ugly kludge that doesn't address the real problem. As I said before, checking date at the console on the server gives the correct result. ZClass Product distribution woes

I have a ZClass-based Product on one server and I want to copy it to another. I am using import/export to do this. I also tried the Distribution tab this morning but it had the same problem. (I restored Data.fs afterwards.) Yesterday, I was able to import the Product into the second server and use it. Zope , DTML, ZPT and XHTML strict

For an appserver like Zope, heading so quickly into the future and supporting so many new technologies , i find it relatively tough to use DTML and ZPT to create valid XHTML 1.0 strict , which, according to the w3c is the way we all are heading... There is an annoying amount of old-style html-stuff hardcoded in Zope (and an incredible amount in products...) , which makes it tough to use a lot of stuff to create valid XHTML strict : some examples are : - calling images in dtml/ZPT out writes height/width(which is a good thing) , but also border="0", which is not only deprecated in all of XHTML , but even not allowed in STRICT.. structured text creates tables in uppercase ; not allowed.. the tree-tag creates a horrendous table-structure, which although i haven't checked it's validity is clearly against the w3's recommendation of using CSS for layout , and not tables. it is still impossible to create valid XHTML singleton attributes in ZPT (example 'checked' should be 'checked="checked"') Credit to those who fixed the image tag and the base tag to at least have their trailing slashes, though.. It was a step in the right direction.. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix this , and head forwards when it homes to HTML/XHTML too , not only in backend-technologies ? :-) -- Geir Bækholt web-developer geirh(a)funcom.com funcom oslo | webdev-team

Retrieving type info from Request.Form items

Hi, I like it that in Zope you can specify the type of a field in an html form by adding ':type' to it. This whole thing happens hower rather transparent to the user. Request.form contains only the name and value and not the type specified. Can anybody tell me how to retrieve the type? Thanks, Douwe
