What you _probably_ want is something like <dtml-with "_[AUTHENTICATED_USER.getName()]"> You probably don't want to be doing this in DTML, anyway - you'll find that while DTML is quick and easy to get into, it gets very ugly, very quickly. Sounds like your system doesn't have the full installation of python, including the headers. If you're on redhat, you'll need the python-devel rpm. If not, you might need to download the python source from www.python.org. I believe I saw something about shipping Zope with the python headers in some future release... Anthony

Anyone got an idea how to get Zope Perl Working....

I installed the Linux Binary for ZOPE - Works just great.... Then I tried to add the PerlScript Module - not so great.... I recompiled Perl with Threading Support, CPANed Python::Object... When I run Make, it wont compile, complains about missing "Python.h"..... I cant find it either..... Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Running Linux, gcc compiler, Python 2+ (The one that come with ZOPE), Perl 5.6.1 with IThreads.... TIA WPH

Hey, I just started using zope and i suppose this would classify me in common internet language as a 'newbie'. This is also my first post to the list. I've found zope to be absolutely amazing for rapid web application development and can't see why anyone would use anything else. Anyway heres my question: I'm setting up a page for a project i'm undertaking with some of my friends and one of the things they wanted was a sort of shared address book with each members email, icq, mobile number etc. This sounded easy enough and the solution i came up with (probably not the best) was to create a folder called 'contacts' containing a seperate DTML document for each user where the title would be their name, the content would be their general comments and properties were created for email, icq no. etc. I should also mention there are only about ten users. I can then set up a sime DTML method to iterate over all the documents and display all the details. My problem comes when I want to build a facility to allow the users to edit their details. What I thought i could do but evidently doesn't work is the following: (in DTML method called 'edit') <dtml with="AUTHENTICATED_USER"> <------ this line is supposed to select which file they are going to edit based on their user name but it doesn't work. any help would be appreciated, Thanks. Suggestions for finding possible SiteRoot artifact

I recently deleted all my SiteRoot instances in favor of enhanced VHM. However, one folder still wants me to log-in in Zope, as if the SiteRoot still exists. How can I find the problem? or just fix it? I cant find any references to similar problem. TYVMIA, Trevor

I am running into errors while trying to install Zope on a RedHat 7.1 server (actually I am trying this install on two servers-same errors on both). I want to run Zserver as a separate server apart from the Apache web server which is running on port 80. I first tried installing the Zope-2.4.1-linux2-x86.tgz binary. When I run ./install, I get the following error: IOError: [Errno 13] Permission Denied: '/usr/local/zope/var/Z2.pid' I have doubled check the permissions. Every file under /usr/local/zope/ is owned by -u root, -g users. (I even got a message from 'flint' on this list about permissions--thanks for the message, but there is no Z2.pid file). Now the interesting thing is that there is NO Z2.pid file in /zope/var. There are two .pid files: pcgi.pid and zProcessManager.pid. Actually, I got Zope to go (limpingly) by copying zProcessManager.pid and naming it Z2.pid, but then I ran into other errors such as no tutorials files. Zope could not locate any of the /Product files. Out of frustration I tried the Zope rpm installs. Of course, I tried to upgrade python 1.5.2. However, the python 2.2.1 rpm install files installed python2 and did not remove/upgrade python 1.5.2. I am sure Zope is looking for python not python2. Is this correct? Is there a way to force an upgrade over python and not install a new version (python2)? Just FYI, I have also tried binaries and src files not just RPMs, but cannot get those to work either. I thought I'd start with these two problems and go from there. ZopeTime not synchronized with server

I'm running Zope on a server that is showning the correct date/time. However, when I have Zope write a date, after 5:00 pm, it shows tomorrow's date. It is as though Zope were on GMT and not taking the time from the server. Is there a way to reset Zope to the correct time, or have it take time directly from the server? deleting as an anonymous user

Hi People, I'm still struggling a little with my job board. I have both of my ZClasses and ZCatalogs up and running and I have it to where I can post, search and view, for both jobs and resumes. A webmaster friend of mine that I turned on to Zope, is doing the authentication and session tracking so both companies and candidates can manage their data securely, ie; post, edit and delete. (He loves it, BTW) Unfortunately, the job board example is just for posting and leaving. I've searched the how-to's and can find nothing on deleting as an anonymous user. Is there a simple way this can be done? I think once we have the delete function working, editing can be done by calling in the object, using hidden fields in the form and then generating a new post and deleting the old one. I think I read somewhere that object databases don't like a lot of editing and I thought this might be a workaround. Once I'm finished, I will be putting up "ZopeJobs.com" as a way of saying thanks. I have read several threads on this topic and thought it sounded like good idea that might be helpful.
