"remote" user-account authentication

Hi Folks; With my current (Linux) network setup I have existing user accounts on one server and Zope running on another. I'd like to use Zope to create a interface that allows folks to customize some aspects of their accounts, but I've got a little problem right off the start. Obviously I want users to login to Zope before they can change anything, which requires users to be authenticated against the existing accounts on the other server. I thought perhaps my problems were solved when I saw exUserFolder in combination with zExtraAuths (authenticating users against IMAPD on the main server). Alas, zExtraAuths is no longer supported by the author, and no longer works correctly with the newer versions of exUserFolder. Is there a relatively sane way to validate external accounts on a different machine so that users may login to Zope with the same Username/password (short of trying to see what isn't working with zExtraAuths and seeing if I can patch it for my needs... I'm not really a Python-person yet). Installing additional software on the user-account server is not entirely out of the question either. Any insight would be appreciated. The name of the current DTML-document

Is this a good way to get the name of the current DTML document? <dtml-var "_['URL'].split('/')[-1]"> Also, how would I print out all the fields for '_'? (always looking for a way to write code to figure out what I want to do...) Automatically including another document

Here's what I'm trying to do: in a subdirectory off the current one, called "book", there is a file with the same name as this one, and I want to include it in the current DTML document. Here's what I have so far: <dtml-with book> <dtml-let text="_['URL'].split('/')[-1]"> <dtml-if text> <dtml-var text> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> </dtml-with> The problem is, <dtml-var text> simply spits out the name of the document, rather than the document contents. (I feel like I've struggled with this before...). Is it possible? Anyone know how to hack up the zope ftp server?

So I found out when accessing files thru the zope ftp server that it FIRST copies it to a temporary directory with a temporary file name. The filename of what you are getting is totally lost and that is why emacs is clueless. So anyone know how to configure/hack the zope ftp server so it at least retains the filename or at least the file extension? Hi, I'm trying to use the new 0.2.2 jcNtUserFolder, but I'm having difficulties. How do I specify an NT user that can access zope? If I go to the contents tab, and add a user: domain\username - without specifying anything other than the username (password, etc.), it seems to be added. However, I cannot them log in to the site with either domain\username or just username. I have setup the default NT domain as my domain. I can use version 0.0.8 just fine... Not sure what else to try. Here's some stuff I recently found out that helped me with ange-ftp in my .emacs file for zope (require 'ange-ftp) (ange-ftp-set-user HOST USER) (ange-ftp-set-password HOST USER PASSWORD) All the values are double quoted and if you are using your zope ftp server on the default port you need something like this: (ange-ftp-set-user "localhost 8021" "azbok") (ange-ftp-set-password "localhost 8021" "azbok" "mypass") Then when you C-x C-f /localhost 8021:/ It will auto log you in as USER and auto send PASSWORD azbok _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp.

The only way to do this is to turn pages into agents, and with proxy roles, this is possible if your pages are DTML, but not with ZPT. There is a way to do this; create custom roles bound to particular types of behaviors. For example, create a role called 'renderer'; bind the 'View' permission bound to standard_html_header, etc. Then use proxy roles to make it so that your page 'foo_html' has a proxy role of 'renderer' -- this effectively means that your page is 'an agent that has permission to access resource standard_html_header' or something like that.
