Porting ZmxODBC to Linux

Hi, I am both new to Zope and Python. While trying to get ZmxODBC installed on Linux I run into problems with the DateTime module. First I got mxODBC version 1.1.1 and mxDateTime 1.1.3 and got them working with the Openlink ODBC SDK libs. Both mxODBC and mxDateTime work. I use Python 1.5.2 on Linux 2.2.18 on a Slackware distribution. Next I installed the ZmxODBC Product _without_ the mxODBC and mxDateTime subtrees, i.e. I left out everything from the shared/tmp/... tree. Trying to start Zope, I use version 2.3.0, the installation of the ZmxODBC fails because the DateTime module in Zope clashes with the DateTime module mxODBC uses. Does anybody get ZmxODBC working and have patches for a workaround? Or, how can I avoid a name clash in Python (can I drop the DateTime module from Zope and force mxODBC to use the (mx)DateTime module. The mxDateTime module is in the /usr/lib/python/site-packages directory. I desperately need to get this working since it seems the only way to get a Progress database conected. TIA Frans Schneider

Setup problem (RPM)

[sorry if I have already posted this but with the list problems don't think it got through] Have downloaded and installed Zope-2.3.0-1.i386.rpm and Zope-zserver-2_3_0-1_i386.rpm but what do I do next, it seem to put stuff under /usr/shared but not sure how to start zope/zserver. Tried starting zope and simply get message 'zope starting:', but nothing else and cant access it from browser. Tracker product fails at "Add A Tracker"

Sorry if you've seen this before, but the post never made it back to myself so i'll try this again. I tried get get my hands on the Tracker product recently and it didn't work. As i got it directly from CVS i decided to wait some time before i tried again. Well now i found that my problem is well known and was submitted to Trackers Bug Tracker Jun 14 2000 !! ( http://www.zope.org/Members/klm/Tracker/25/1 ) For short: It is not possible to add a Tracker, as the dialog titled "Add A Tracker" fails on submitting Id and Title. (see details below) Questions: Is this a Tracker problem or something else? Are there any solutions awaylable? Does Tracker development continue at all? Hey everyone, I've got a bunch of images cataloged and each image has a date property associated with it. How can I query the Catalog to retrieve all of the images with the date property matching a given month. LoginManager

Ahh I see that the mailing list is working once again ... A while ago there was discussion on how the LoginManager was not functioning correct with Zope 2.3.0 because Zope had changed. Has the situation changed thus far? I would very much like to try Zope out, but I'd like to be able to use an SQL backend for the user database (in addition to the ZClasses and the Python scripting, etc...), and LoginManager seems like the best choice.

I'm uncertain as to how to tell for sure, but I would very much expect that all those "processes" are indeed threads and that, really, only 11.9% of the memory is taken up by Zope, not the 6 * 11.9% = 71.4% that the process table seems to indicate. Error message using EventFolder with Zope 2.30

Hi, Can anyone help with the following error message? I installed the product EventFolder successfully on Zope 2.2. After switching to 2.3.0 I can't seem to get it to work. Being new to Zope, I'm at a loss, any ideas/help would be appreciated. I've installed the product, imported the zexp into the Products folder and that seems ok...the product does not appear broken. I created a folder, added myself (as manager) as a user, and clicked on Add>>>Event Folder, typed in an ID,clicked Add and the following error is generated... The zope list should be working now - this'll confirm it (or, um, not). This is not the end of story - we're doing an expedient thing while our maillist guy is figuring out the real problem.
