Can't reach the "management screen"

Hello I'm an absolutely Zope beginner. I installed Zope on SUSE Linux 7.1, configured the Apache Server like described in different how tos, restarted Apache and then Zope. The problem is, i can only reach the "Welcome to Zope" page. But the lokal links like "Quick start" and "management sceen" don't work. Does anybody know a sollution Ulrich

hi to everybody why does this wortk : <dtml-with expr="x010314"> and not this : <dtml-with expr="010314"> ???????? the quotes should prevent it from being treated as a number i guess ??? thanx SVEN

ZOPE 2.3.0 and double slash in the URL

Hello, using ZOpe 2.3.0 i get everytime in the variable URL (0,1,2,3,ecc..) a // between the base server name and the path. I'm using Roxen 2.1.221 with PCGI. This are my BASE and URL variables: URL0 http://xxx.xxxxx.com//cgi-bin/zope/pg/gestione/check_user URL1 http://xxx.xxxxx.com//cgi-bin/zope/pg/gestione URL2 http://xxx.xxxxx.com//cgi-bin/zope/pg URL3 http://xxx.xxxxx.com//cgi-bin/zope URL4 http://xxx.xxxxx.com//cgi-bin URL5 http://xxx.xxxxx.com/ BASE0 http://xxx.xxxxx.com//cgi-bin BASE1 http://xxx.xxxxx.com//cgi-bin/zope BASE2 http://xxx.xxxxx.com//cgi-bin/zope/pg BASE3 http://xxx.xxxxx.com//cgi-bin/zope/pg/gestione BASE4 http://xxx.xxxxx.com//cgi-bin/zope/pg/gestione/check_user So when i set a cookie with the path='/cgi-bin/zope/' the cookie is not sent if i use a redirect to URL or BASE. The problem do not show when i try to access the resource directly from zope port without PCGI. I think the problem must reside in zope becouse on another server i user the same version of roxen but Zope 2.1.6 and the URL and BASE are correct. Have you any ideas?? Best regards. postgres database connection to different server

hi, I am using zope and postgresql in Linux version is RedHat6.2. I could do the connection to the postgresql database if zope and postgres are in the same server. but how to do the connection to the database if the postgres is running in a different server. subrahmanyan.

creating a file on a client

Hi, Is it possible to let a client-pc log into a Zope Server with a request send some information, The Zope Server handles the request and sends a file with data to a directory on the client... Is this possible? How can I let Zope put a file on a clients directory (through python.?) Thanks for any ideas. Tom.

zclasses vs objects

hello, (again) i'd like to know where the real difference between zclasses and just a bunch of objects and propertys. zclasses do have data types, objects don't zclasses have special constructors, objects don't but (for small collections) isn't it possible to use folder + properties + objects instead of classes ? what are the real problems i'm likely to encounter doing so ? scalability ? speed ? maintenance ? thx, >junk<

ZClass (Base Property = OFS: DTMLDocument)

I have a ZClass which is based upon OFS: DTMLDocument and I would the new ZClass instances to contain some standard DTML just like that found in a newly created DTMLDocument.... e.g. <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id></h2> <p> This is the <dtml-var id> Document. </p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> Any tips? problems with help file

Hello I compiled the Zope-2.3.0-src successfully on FreeBSD4.2, and Python2.0. All works fine, but when I keenly started running through the tutorial (Elvis site) I noticed all the references/hyperlinks to items in the Zope Tutorial Glossary are just one-letter words...I suspect they should be tags and Zope concepts like <dtml-var...> and DTML etc... for instance, Lesson 1, line 8 reads: 2. Type home.html for the document d. Is that cryptic 'd' at the end right? Is it just me or are things not making sense?
