newbie zope question -- stuck in quick-start page

Hi, I finally thought I had some time to play w/ zope, but it's turning out to be more confusing than I thought. The install/startup go smoothly (as the documentation says). Oh, I'm running the stable version off of zope.org (not the dev. version) on NT using the command line. But when I click on the root folder, I don't see the tabs as the documentation says I should. And no matter which node I click "under" the root folder, I'm always led to what looks like the "zope quick start" page. And quite obviously I'm still hunting for the add button :) Actually Root Folder/Control_Panel/Products/ZopeTutorial all behave this way.. but when I click on Help "under" the last, I see a listing of help documents. So .. what's wrong? I did check some of the resources on zope.org, but couldn't find anything relevant. Zope looks great.. but I guess I'm having glitches right out of the gate which probably should be in a FAQ someplace?

Strange ZCatalog behaviour

Hi Zopistas I experience Problems using ZCatalog, See following example: <dtml-in "Catalog(meta_type='ZClass_seite_press',region=zregion)"> where zregion is one string and region is a list indexd as text when i change this to <dtml-in "Catalog(meta_type='ZClass_seite_press',region in zregion)"> where zregion itself is a list, containing 3 or more strings that should match on some instances of ZClass_seite_presse i can't even get this into zope, because i recive this error non-keyword arg after keyword arg , for tag <dtml-in "Catalog(meta_type='ZClass_seite_presse',region in zregion)"> so, how would i get the goal, searching in ZCatalog with my list as mentioned in the Howtos. why does manage_addDocument give me a method?

Another thing that seems strange to me: When calling <dtml-with SomeFolder> <dtml-call expr="manage_addDocument('SomeDocument','')"> </dtml-with> i get a dtml-method called SomeDocument instead of a dtml-document!! Keyword Index Question

Hi, Is there any way I can search a Keyword Index in such a way that it only returns matches that have _all_ the keywords I supply? For Example, I'd like: context.searchResults({'MyKeywordIndex':['Fred','Jones']}) ...to return only catalogued items that have Fred _and_ Jones as keywords in MyKeywordIndex. The above appears to return objects which have keywords of 'Fred' _or_ 'Jones' Any ideas? cheers, Chris

Welcome to Zope. I'm not familiar with the RPM packages, so I can help you little there. It appears as though you are only trying the management interface on port 8080. Try just looking for the Zope page at http://localhost:8080/ You don't need to worry about apache yet, as it is not interacting with a basic zope install. Please let us know the error message you are getting. When I bring down the computer there is a message: Stopping Zope [OK]. The following Zope related files appear in the directory /var/run: pcgi.soc and zserver.pid There is also Apache installed on the computer, starting automatically . When I go to to the local URL http://localhost.localdomain, then the apache webpage appears. There are only error messages when I try something like http://localhost:8080/manage (or various variations of this). To find out whether a different port number applies to my computer, I searched the file /etc/services. I did not see anything which is obviously related to zope. Port 8080 is mapped to webcache 8080/tcp and webcache 8080/udp. Similarly port 80 is mapped to www 80/tcp and www 80/udp. Speicfying http://localhost:80 also brings up the apache webpage. I have tried to disable the apache daemon httpd, but then I can not see the URL. Now my question: what do I need to do in order to be able to get going, i.e. to log into zope to start with. Is this a configuration problem? According to the Zope Content Manager Guide, everything looks so easy, but no information is offered on how to log in in the first place. There is a Zope Administration Guide included with my distribution, but that is only for MS Windows, not for Linux (yet?). Is there any document out there which addresses this problem? Any information that can help me to solve this initial hurdle is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. UnTextIndex errors

Anyone recognize what this error could mean? It's showing up in zopeapp.log over and over and over again. I thought it might be Xron-related, but now it seems to just happen at random--but once it gets started, it goes and goes and goes. 2001-03-19T11:54:26 ERROR(200) UnTextIndex unindex_object tried to unindex nonexistent document 3608
