I solved this by sending the arg via url mangling to a DTML method and then by normal args to the ZSQL method. Yes, even the ZOPE book describes that it should work the other way. ZSQL update operations

Hi, I'm displaying a set of data from a ZSQL method. The showStatus method below works just fine. I would now like to have a link on each data item allowing an ZSQL update or delete operation. Can this be done by passing args to the ZSQL method vai the URL? I'm a beginner with Zope/ZSQL btw... Hi there, I'm setting up a MS Access database for a project I'm working and would like to use it with my Zope site.....having a little trouble though. Installed the Zope ODBC adaptor but don't know how to connect it to Zope? keeps giving me "bad request" errors when I try to specify a connection string / any connection string! Is there more to installing the ODBC adaptor than just importing it to the products folder? Seeking guidance ... Cheers

Default values in ZSQL methods

I have a ZSQL method, by_id, which accepts a 'staffid' as staffid:int=0 (allow an integer-only id, but default to zero.) The method is: select * from vlkpstaff <dtml-if "staffid > 0"> where staffid=<dtml-sqlvar staffid type=int> </dtml-if> (if a real staff ID was passed, use it in the where statement, otherwise show all records) The works great, even with direct traversal, so I can say things like http://www.foo.com/staffFolder/by_id/100 to get staff ID#100. However, in a DTML method, 'roster', I say: <dtml-in by_id> ... show staff info here ... </dtml-in> hoping to show *all* staff. Instead, I get *none*. If I call it explicity, as <dtml-in "by_id('staffid':0)"> ... </dtml-in> it works fine, but this is a bit ugly, and it creates dependencies on my keeping this staffid field w/the same name, etc. Of course, I could have two queries, by_id, and showAll, and this work fine, but again, it forces me to keep two queries in sync when keeping just one in sync feels right. I know I'm coming into this thread a little late, but... I've run across the same problem you described. I figured out that adding a semicolon at the end of my SQL statements was causing the syntax error. IE: SELECT * from t_table WHERE keyfield=<dtml-sqlvar keyfield type=string>; gave me the syntax error. When I removed the semicolon everything worked fine. Of course, you can also set the limit clause to zero, but you might now want to have to to do that. ZSQL method LAST_INSERT_ID() error

This ZSQL query: SELECT LAST_INSERT_ID() AS ID Is returning this error: Error, _mysql.OperationalError: (1064, "You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'LIMIT 1000' at line 1") It apparently automatically adds a LIMIT clause to the end of my SQL query that MySQL does not like in this context. Is there any way to shut the limit clause off? Anybody have any ideas for a workaround? P. Johnson

Simple problem with sql-group

Hello, I 'm a Zope newbye. I have a (probably silly) problem with this sql-template (if you have already discussed this problem excuse me): select * from employees <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-sqltest salary op=gt type=float optional> <dtml-and> <dtml-sqltest first op=eq type=string optional> <dtml-and> <dtml-sqltest last op=eq type=string optional> </dtml-sqlgroup> My question is: if I pass the value 10000 to parameter salary (and nothing to others) I expect to obtain the query: select * from employees where (salary > 10000)? But I obtain the query select * from employees where (salary > 10000 and first = '' and last = '' ). Is this result correct and am I wrong? Can you help me? Thanks. Michele

Records marshalling: trying to including a list within a record

Hi, Can anyone give me ideas on solving the following problem... Im trying to pass information in a form using :records. One item in each record is a list I wish to pass as a list and use <dtml-in bob> to display the list contents. I have tried all sorts of variations... <input type="hidden" name="my_record.bob:records:list" value="<dtml-in bob><dtml-var sequence-item></dtml-in>"> and... <input type="hidden" name="my_record.bob:list:records" value="<dtml-in bob><dtml-var sequence-item></dtml-in>"> Anything I try just places the whole of "bob" as one item in a list. eg if bob was ['this ','is ','bob']. The list in the record passed using the form would be ['this is bob']. Thanks for any ideas in advance. Richard
