Thanks, Dieter. 1) Is fine, assuming the ZSQL method is there. 2) The best of my options - I didn't even think of it. 3) Uh, that sounds like some deep zope wizardry. I'm still working on OFS.SimpleItem :) 4) I suppose I could even make my product inherit from an ObjectManager and let it contain ZSQL Methods - didnt' think of this one either, 'till now. Loginmanager and Windows ME

Hi there, Has anyone out there ever installed "Loginmanger" on a windows ME platform? I've been trying to do it all weekend but to no avail..... Zpatterns is giving me a traceback error stating that "dynpersist" cannot be found (ImportError). Now I've checked the "Zope mail archives" & found several messages from users who are having the same problem.....but unfortunately I can't find any solutions posted! I did notice a message stating that I had to build/compile the dynpersist component first.....and a Linux how-to for this..... but how do I do this in ME? Can I download a pre-compiled version from somewhere? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. p.s running Zope 2.3.1 by the way.

Hello, I have a list of items where it should be possible to delete all the items you wish. Each item have a checkbox with the value equal to them itemid. I have done this is PHP just by naming these checkboxes "deletearr[]" to make an array, then run through the array an delete each item. But how do I do the same thing in Zope ? Or - a more specifik question - can I make an array the same way in Zope that I did in PHP ? What do you want to achieve? - The equivalent of foreign keys in relational Databases, for instance the automatic deletion of article1 if article1.author2 == 'user1' when you delete user1? Then I would use a completely different structure than the one above, perhaps a zclass which is instanciated for every author and can contain articles. - Or do you just want zope not to throw an exeption if ._[author2] doesnt exist? Then it should be possible to write a small method which emulates <dtml-var my_variable missing> for variables which contain the id of an object. (The functional analogon to the not working <dtml-var "_[my_variable]" missing>). So you can do <dtml-var "test_and_return_email(author=author_1)"> cheers, oliver

How do You guys manage integrity in Zope

i have made a few sites in Zope by now, and I often have problems with integrity in the database. Ie. with a structure like this: users user1 user2 user3 ... articles article1 article2 article3 If I have an author field in "article1" that is the id of "author2" and I then delete "author2" I get an error when trying to get the authors properties like e-mail, name etc. Off course I can test to see if the author exists before trying to pull out the data, but this seems like a messy way to do it. How do the rest of you guys solve this problem? Is zPatterns nessecary? regards Max M

I'm in the process of working with Zope for the first time as a learning exercise.. So far, I'm rather impressed with the immense potential of what I can see myself doing without a great deal of difficulty. The 'skeleton' index_html in / that provides a standard look for everything, and so on, and so forth... Its just nice. Now i'm working on my first form, and am having just a bit of trouble. Perhaps its because I've never ended up using .real. HTTP authentication in any other website I've done :) I want the form to insert the person's username into the form if they have logged in, otherwise, not enter anything and just print "Unregistered User" on the webpage. Here's what I'm trying, which simply isn't working :) It prints 'Anonymous User' instead of 'Unregistered User' if my user isn't logging in. <dtml-if expr="AUTHENTICATED_USER != 'Anonymous User'"> <input type="text" name="From" value="&dtml-AUTHENTICATED_USER;" size="36" maxlength="36"> <dtml-else> Unregistered User </dtml-if> What am I doing wrong?
