I was describing Zope to an network system engineer recently. He was very interested but said he wanted to read the docuemntation on intefarceing Zope with Microsoft ADO stuff. Hi all, Could someone point me to a URL or other resource that explains how to plug in the CoreSessionTracking product? (This one is for the guy who will actually maintain the server.) My question is where can I find some code examples of using the session objects. I'm interested in syntax really, because I'm already familiar with Session objects from ColdFusion and ASP. problem with PIL .save

Hi, We have Zope 2.3.1 installed, running with Python 1.5.2, and python image library 1.1.1, on a PC with SUSE Linux 7.1. When we run the following code from python we have no prob, we get the rectangle image file img.png, and we also see it in xv according to the im.show() import Image, ImageDraw im = Image.new("RGB",(200,200)) draw = ImageDraw.Draw(im) draw.rectangle((10,10,100,150), fill=(255,255,255)) del draw im.show() im.save("/usr/tmp/img.png","PNG") Now the problem is when we use the same code in a python external method called from zope. we get the following error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: _save ... /db1/Zope-2.3.1-linux2-x86/Extensions/feature_view.py, line 114, in draw_segment File /usr/local/lib/python1.5/site-packages/PIL/Image.py, line 674, in save File /usr/local/lib/python1.5/site-packages/PIL/PngImagePlugin.py, line 410, in _save AttributeError: (see above) feature_view.py, line 114 corresponds to the im.save line The funny thing is that a img.png file is saved to disk, but is corrupted, but we still can see the correct image from xv, according to the im.show() call. 2.3.2 SiteRoot and ZCatalog Woe

Hi, I'm using SiteRoot on a 2.3.2 installation. It looks like there is a mismatch between the Zcatalog and Siteroot. When I add a new catalogaware Zclass instance to a Catalog it gets cataloged with its SiteRoot relative path (i.e not including the real root folder), which is what I would expect. But when I try to access the cataloged object's properties from DTML using either the new getObject or the old getobject(data_record_id_), I get a key error. If I use the "Find Objects" tab in the Catalog's management interface, it catalogs duplicates of the objects (i.e. the object is in there twice), but this time with the full path from Zope's real root (i.e. ignoring the SiteRoot). And I *can* access these using get[Oo]bject. So it looks to me like ZCatalog is not aware of SiteRoot's URL magic. Anyone got a patch? --- Rob

How to determine needed permissions to create any object type ?

Hi, For the ZShell external method I'm boring your for two weeks, I wanted to create a new mkobj command which would accept a meta type as its argument and a list of objects ids to create (empty) with this meta type. So I need to know what permission is needed to allow the creation of a particular meta type. e.g. : mkobj "DTML Document" top_html bottom_html Would have to know that to be allowed to create an object of meta type "DTML Document" the permission "Add Documents, Images, and Files" is needed. So my question is: given a meta type, how to list the permission(s) needed to be allowed to create an instance of this particular meta type ? Thanks in advance. Jerome Alet - alet(a)unice.fr

I have download the full distribution (binary)for windows 98/2000 form zope.org. The doesn't manage the installation. It was shown the same line you read in my subject of this mail. Hi, I tried 3 times to dowload/install the LoginManager 0.8.8 b1 on a Zope 2.3.2/Linux % cd $ZOPEROOT % wget http://www.zope.org/Members/tsarna/LoginManager/LoginManager-0-8-8b1.tgz % tar xvfz LoginManager-0-8-8b1.tgz % ./stop % ./start I always got a "broken product" when restarting Zope... how to extract info from html?

hello, i'm trying to automate the creation of RSS files. my pages consist of a series of paragraphs with links and commentary (weblog). i need to extract the url, the title, and description from each paragraph. how do i do that? i suspect it's simple but i'm not exactly a programmer. for example, Zope.org: <a href="some url">New Zope Release</a> "Zope 2.4.0a, the first alpha release of 2.4 is out now and features ..." XML.com: <a href="another url">Zope and XML</a> "An interesting article on creating XML with Zope" taking that, how do I end up with: title: New Zope Release link: some url description: Zope 2.4.0a, the first alpha release of 2.4 is out now and fetures ... title: Zope and XML link: another url description: An interesting article on creating XML with Zope I suspect it would be much easier if I were using ZClasses to create each entry. but i'm not. :( I can strip out the header and footer code so all i'm left with is balanced paragaphs. by balanced i mean each block of text is wrapped in opening and closing tags and . but then i get stuck. thanks, luke

Solution is (and it's a hack); create an alternate index method within whatever it is that you are indexing that outputs the text, and for every word with an accent, strip out the accent (perhaps use a python dictionary of character mappings). Index that method (or methods). You are then indexing un-accented text. Then, write a method that translates accents out of the search text by rewriting the field in the REQUEST object for each text box where people enter text (using the same code as above). Not a graceful solution, but would be transparent to the user - though this might get a bit tedious if you have lots of fields/methods/properties with full-text indexes... The site ignores accentuation. I realy need to do that. The search has to bring related results to the keyword, not only results that has it. A basic feature to do that is to ignore accentuation.
