I would like to assign a list to a variable in CoreSessionTracking. This fails: <dtml-call "data.set('varname',"["1"]")> But in python, I can do an assignment a=["1"] I tried to play around with single and double quotes, but to no avail. What am I failing to understand? -- Milos Prudek

Unable to access AUTHENTICATED_USER in DTML method after declared as public

Hi, When I declare the DTML method index_html as public, like this: security.declarePublic('index_html') The index_html complains unable to access REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER. Is it intentional to remove this variable when some method is declared as public? How can I determin if the visitor has logged in in a method that I have to declare public? upgrading a test system to 2.4, and I'm getting a lot of 2001-07-31T07:00:41 PROBLEM(100) Script (Python) Object "lookup_partner" needs to be recompiled. ------ 2001-07-31T07:00:57 PROBLEM(100) Script (Python) Object "header_request_variables" needs to be recompiled. recompiling every python script in the system by hand is going to be a complete pain in the bottom - is there a simple-ish way to force them to all be recompiled? Nothing shows up in the 2.4 release notes or migration guide... Anthony

New restricted python - How to use in my Product?

Hi. In one of my products i use following code: import rexec r_env = rexec.RExec() selected=r_env.r_eval(self.default) that was zope 2.3 and python 2.0. FTP automangling file extension: semi-working proof-of-concept

Hi Joel I've also toyed with ideas related to this, though I wasn't looking at the file extension -- since my editor is Vim, not DreamWeaver. (When I have to work with designers who use DW, I just use ids that end in '.htm'.) My dream was rather to extend the "data block" parsing that Zope does when passing objects in and out via FTP or WebDAV. Specifically, Python scripts arrive looking like this: ## Script (Python) "formatContentLayer" ##bind container=container ##bind context=context ##bind namespace= ##bind script=script ##bind subpath=traverse_subpath ##parameters=page_id ##title= ## ''' Enumerates the positioning of the content <div>s and the backgrounds. ''' I'd love it if I could create new objects on the filesystem, and have Zope create them in the ZODB when I upload. The data block for a DTML method might look like: ## DTML Method "sendMail" ##title= ## <dtml-comment> .. and so on Zope should look for a factory for the meta-type on the first line, and create the object if successful, or fail to upload if unsuccessful. To accommodate non-Zope-aware FTP- and WebDAVing, this behaviour should happen on ports of their own .. eg. localhost:8021 for normal FTP and localhost:8121 for superFTP? (I suspect I'm drifting in the direction of something like FlareLang http://flarelang.sourceforge.net/prog-overview.html here, with the objects represented as XML on the filesystem. Successfully implemented international characters in Zope 2.4?

Hi there, Has anyone successfully implemented international characters in Zope 2.4? I need to manage web content that's in Japanese, so need to be able to take Japanese text that's copied-and-pasted into a textarea (in Internet Explorer), store it in the ZODB somehow and return it in DTML or ZPT pages. I tried to install the Unicode patch from zope.org, but my hunks of patching failed. precondition with File: Python Script does not work ?

Hi I have a page with downloadable files and wish to count the downloads. I found a 'precondition'-option with the File object. This presummably calls the Method or Document specified before download wil start. The precondition is: counter_download(thefile='zip') In the same folder I have specified the counter_download as a Python Script: parameter: thefile if thefile=='doc': context.manage_changeProperties(doc_downloads=context.getProperty ('doc_downloads')+1) if thefile=='zip': context.manage_changeProperties(zip_downloads=context.getProperty ('zip_downloads')+1) return "ok" And the same folder also has these properties defined. The Python Script works fine when I test it and also the downloads are ok. However, the counting does not happen ?! Any ideas ? Regards Gijs

hi, I have various folders I need to give specific users access to, but not others. Am I going to have to create a acl_users in each of these sub folders, of can I authenticate them in the parent folder only? Factory method needs superuser authentication

Hi. I wrote a product when reading the Developers Guide for Zope 2.4. Now i ran into a problem I can't resolve: The Product is registered successfully and i can click "add" in a folder view. Then it asks me some things on the add-form (everything is right til now). But when i then click add, zope refuses to call the manage_addDefaultCrosstable and prompts me for proper authentication. I have been logged in as manager, and then changed to the superuser account. As superuser he allowed me to call the factory method but refused to create the object (naturally). What do i have to look for? I added some parts of the involved files.
