Automatically import a zexp

Hello, as a Debian maintainer I wonder if there is any clean method to import zexp products by a script (not using the import method from a browser). The idea is that installing Python products is simple by copying the python code to the right place and restart zope. Works fine in the Debian postinst script. But what to do with zexp products. I tried a very dirty hack like ZOPEUSER="<place the name of Zope administrator here>" PASSWD="<and his password>" ## For sure this is insecure. ## You should find a secure way using debconf to maintain this!!!! IMPORT=<product-name>.zexp LC_ALL=en_EN HOST=localhost PORT=9673 wget --proxy=off --http-user=${ZOPEUSER} --http-pass=${PASSWD} \ http://${HOST}:${PORT}/Control_Panel/Products/${prod}/manage_importObject?file=${IMPORT} but I think I really do not have to tell you that this can not be the recommended way to go. Zope on solaris for the beginner.

This is very humble-ing. Hopefully someone is a salvation waiting to happen. I'm new to Zope and could really use a little help installing. I'm on a Solaris Box. I've Downloaded Zope-2.5.0-solaris-2.6-sparc ./install -u root all looks good Next I try to ./start -u root All goes well until the install seems to get hung up on Unix socket: /path to Zope-2.5.0/var/pcgi When I try to ./start (with no other options) I get: File /path to Zope/zy.py, line 688, in? IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/path to Zope/var/Z2.pid' I imagine this time the error comes from not starting as root. That and the fact that this file does not seem t be in the "var" folder. basically i can't bet to mymachine.com:8080/manage So I haven't got this up and running yet. WebDAV question: My FTPstat and FTPlist are never reached

Zope binary distributions

Possibly dumb questions, but what the hell. For a binary Zope distribution, is it built with or without PCGI? We use FastCGI, so we build without PCGI. I'll assume that binary distributions are built with PCGI. Is there a way to get a binary Zope distribution from D.C. without the PCGI? Given the recent problems we're having with needing certain build options set and specific versions for Python, it would be nice if we could rely on a binary Zope distribution and not have to second guess that we are screwing up somewhere in the build process. Am I missing the boat somewhere? Thanks, Erik

Anyone using NFGnav?

Problems with editing Zope stuff via ftp from Emacs

Dear Zopers, I have read the archives and googled the Web, but could not get this fixed: Connecting to my Zope from Emacs works fine, but after a while (some minutes), Emacs and Zope are confusing each other and lock. It appears that while I am looking at a file, Emacs suddenly starts thinking it is not a file, but a directory and tries to CD in there as hard as it can. The result is lines like this without endin the *ftp ..* buffer: ftp> cd /Control_Panel/Products/ZTopicMapN/xtopicmap/propertysheets/methods/getScope_py\ / 550 No such directory. ftp> cd /Control_Panel/Products/ZTopicMapN/xtopicmap/propertysheets/methods/getScope_py\ / 550 No such directory. ftp> cd /Control_Panel/Products/ZTopicMapN/xtopicmap/propertysheets/methods/getScope_py\ / 550 No such directory. Has anybody encountered this? Is there an easy fix for this? Cannot start Zope on Windows ME

Hello, I've downloaded Zope 2.5.0 and double clicked on the start.bat file. A command window comes up, the first line is a call to python, and the next thing I notice is my computer is restarting. Anybody has an idea? Op system: Windows ME. TIA, Gogulus
