Dear Zope Users, Fairly new to Zope, but I am writing a Python Script. I would like to use exceptions in my processing flow, but the security restrictions won't allow it. What is the recommended approach here? Looking at the source for manage_zmi_logout might help you. When you started it as root the first time, the ownership of the files in <ZopeInstall>/var were changed to the root user. SiteAccess b0rked my Zope

So, last week I was here asking how I could get my virtualhosted intranet to show up correctly (ie, remove the 'intranet' that was getting prepended to the file portion of the absolute URLs). Someone suggested SiteAccess, which looks to be exactly what I needed. I put a SiteRoot object into what I think is the correct place, and now the intranet looks just like it should when I visit. HOWEVER, now when I try to select the intranet's directory in the Zope management interface, it sems to refer me to the root directory instead. All the other ones seem to work correctly. Since I cannot get into the intranet's directory, I cannot remove the SiteRoot rule, or even fix it. Server Error Help

Hi all: I'm running RedHat with apache serving zope. Everything works great. But, i'm using the program Extfile/ExImage for my documents. And when I upload a file over 10mbs and then try to view the server hoses and I get a 500 server error message. The log file says timeout. Can anybody help ne to fix fast. Thanks, Todd

Source of error corrections for The Zope Book

Maybe it is just me but in trying to follow example in The Zope Book I seem to find things that do not match the reality of live Zope - just straight factual errors. Does anyone know whether the authors have published any corrections to the published text in a web accessible form. I've lloked at the PDF version of the book's text but that doesn't seem to be any different to the text on paper. In some cases I have figured out what incantation I should use instead of the one on the printed page but I would be a lot happier seeing some corrected text to confirm my fumbling guesses.

I did this by customizing the join_form and register dtml methods in portal_skins, but that would be applicable only if you are using CMF. Otherwise, look at your acl_users folder, and the code that it is using when the Add button is clicked. If you want to do this without an html form, then look at the python source to see the method you need to call, in this case "manage_users". I find this method in User.py --> def manage_users(self,submit=None,REQUEST=None,RESPONSE=None) I believe that you can use something like <dtml-call expr="acl_users.manage_users(...)"> The params for the method can be found in the form fields in the Add User form. Python/Zope + Alpha/Redhat == Memory Bloat?

I am observing the following phenomenon: Develop a Zope site on Intel/Redhat. Takes about 40MB RAM. Deploy the site on Alpha/Redhat. Contantly grows, easily eating 1GB (!) of RAM until it hits the swap and we restart Zope! All this with the same versions of Python/Zope/Products on Intel and Alpha. I see that with all Zopes (2.3.0-2.4.3) and all Pythons (1.5.2-2.1.2) in all our Projects (and quite different they are). My admins are out of ideas, say they tried everything (different compilers, gcc alpha patches, ...). We also tested Tru64 but could't even get Python going well (lockups, segfaults, out-of-memory conditions). Anybody successfully - that is without obscene memory consumption - running Python/Zope on Alpha processors? Grateful-for-even-the-smallest-hint-ly yours, Stefan
