Temp files and disk space issues

What are the implications if tempfile.py creates a temporary file and then runs out of space before it's done? Does it create a named file that we'd be able to watch throughout certain operations? Basically, we're noticing our var directory (which is a partition on our server) bloat and then shrink, and we suspect it's some sort of temp file that's being created. Zope 2.4.3 on Win32 with Python 2.1.2 - anywhere?

Hello, We've been trying to upgrade our applications to Zope 2.4.3 on Windows (from Zope 2.1.6 on windows). We use ZOracleDA quite a lot and with 2.4.3, we're using dco2 beta version. Zope 2.4.3 seems to hang once in a while - especially when you try to save your edits. Restarting the service gets it back up. Anyone experienced this type of problem? With the latest release of Py 2.1.2, has anyone tried Zope on Windows? Zope Corp: - will you be changing the downloadable version of Zope binaries to contain this release of python? Problems with data integrity after packing Data.fs

Hi, did anybody ever encounter problems when packing the database? I think I noticed the following: I had a ZClass, changed its implementation quite often, renamed it to blahBackup, recreated a ZClass with the old name and copied / pasted functionality from backup to the new ZClass. This one now works. But: After packing the database, there was a property in my ZClass which wasn't there anymore before packing - this property existed in one of the prior versions of the class. Fortunately, I was able to fix it very quickly, but could it have mixed up more than just that method? This would be perfidious... P.S.: I never played with the Class ID (that long code in Basic tab), so that shouldn't be the problem. Is this a bug or what? Unfortunately, I'm unable to reproduce the error. The bug is actually in OrderedFolders 0.4.0. There was an undetected dependency on ZBabel, which is fixed in the current CVS version. Of course, you can also use OrderedFolder 0.3.0 or install ZBabel. :-) BTW, I will make a fixed OrderedFolder release soon. I remember, there was a message in the mailing lists, that there is now a ZBabel proxy around that can emulate ZBabel, when it is not installed (--> mailing list archives). Dieter

Zope 2.5.0b4/2.4.x crashes

In the continuing effort to figure out why a C-extension I've written works without error in the Python interpreter, yet causes Zope to terminate abnormally (with nary a traceback) I've started to explore the ExternalMethod code. Curious -- why does it use the method it does (apply(), etc) rather than simply importing the external module and calling the method? At this point, I'm wondering if the (transient, but fatal) error is in the Python interpreter itself, and triggers due to the way Zope handles external methods. The setup is as follows: Zope -> ExternalMethod object -> .py module with stubs to .dll functions -> .dll The crashes appear to happen on the call to the .dll file which, as I mentioned above, causes no errors when directly executed from the interpreter. The switch from 2.4.3 to 2.5.0b4 helped quite a bit, but the crashes still happen. The folks at Zope Collector are unable to suggest anything further. ---------- Keith J. load testing for zope server..

Dear firends, Greetings! Has any body done load testing for zope on different os/ platforms. are there any tools avaiable to do the same. For a project of mine, I need to run zope 2.4.3 on win nt 4.0 sp 6 with P3-600 MHz and 128mb ram. The zope server may have 1-2 users authoring the site all the time. I ma start with 1500 object and 3 months down the line it may reach 1,00,000 objects. How many users will be able to simultaniously browse the site?. How do we calculate the max load that the zope server can take? Any sharing real life statistics will be of immence help. Regards, - sree

It would seem to me that "zope(a)zope.org" has made it onto one of those CDROM's with "guaranteed 1 million valid email accounts to boost your business". We had an account that was being inundated by spam/junk mail, and I found out from someone who had bought the CD, when I queried them (an academic doing research, who was most helpful). Our only solution was to delete our email account... (fortunately we could). cheers Graham PS.
