Newbie External Method - Python help

Hi all, I am trying to process some operations in a external method, becuase as far as i know, i can't import mysqldb in a python script due to security restrictions. Through a form I get the values of the variables and the action of the form is the execution of the external method. The external method starts comparing a value, so if it is equal to 'c' for example, other function starts and so on. The problem I have is that I would need to set the values of the form variables as global, so any function inside the external method can access to them. As I explicitly need to place a function name in Zope's external method manage screen, I don't know how to set these variables as global. Any help will be apreciated TIA Vicente Castelló

ZClasses and ZSQL

Hi, Has anyone any experience of using ZSQL in ZCLASSES. I installed a connector in the ZCLASS within my product. The ZSQL method couldn't find the connector. I then placed the connector in the Product directory and the ZSQL method found it ok. I could then test the ZSQL method - works fine. I then tried to install my product and couldn't get the class to find the connector. I guess my problem is one object referring to another object in the ZCLASS. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks Dave

pdf + external methods question

Hello all, after _much_ wailing and gnashing of teeth, i am now happily churning out PDF reports via reportlab/ external methods, but i still have one irritation: i am using a tempfile.mktemp(suffix=".pdf") object to chuck the pdf into but am having trouble responsing this back to the browser cleanly. i am using this code (thx, messrs Washington + Penny!): c.save() self.REQUEST.RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-type', 'application/x-pdf') self.REQUEST.RESPONSE.write(open(mypdffile).read()) but the tempfile object seems to get mangled somewhere in the process and the client doesn't recognise the file as PDF because the PDF suffix gets lost somewhere... any help most welcome... if anyone wants to enlighten me regarding what ext methods can or should return, i would also be grateful! i would like to write a HOWTO on reportlab + zope once i've got this stuff finished... cheers, garry __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi, Does anyone know if there are problems inheriting from both DTML Documents and Methods? I want the propeties bit of Documents and the container bits of methods. Thanks David Kyte

Is there an easier way to simply have a float display (round) to two decimal places, rather than monkeying around with the access restrictions? I can add the '$' to the string. objectValues value for Zdiscussions

Hello All, I am trying to generate a list of available forums located in a folder. The easiest was seams to be using <dtml-in expr="objectValues('ObjectTypeName')"> but I can not find the value to insert into the objectValues parameter for ZDiscussions Topic. Any thoughts? TIA TJ Sullivan

Hi all, Longtime listener, first time caller... I launched a site last month called Skipping Dot Net, subtitled "Building Next-Generation Web Services and Apps Without Paying The Microsoft Tax". As you might guess from that, it's all about advocating alternatives to MS technologies, especially open source approaches, and especially what I see as the really good ones like Python and Zope. I'm not a Python or Zope guru, not by a long shot, but I'm learning as fast as I can, because we're working to migrate all of our existing ASP/VB apps to Zope ASAP. As part of my learning process, I'm reading and reviewing every Zope book published, and I started that effort with a review of the (first) Zope Book by Amos Latteier & Michel Pelletier. I'll be reviewing the Zope Web Application Construction Kit from Sams later in January and The Book of Zope from No Starch Press in February. KebasData Refresh bug?

Comparing the original site and my Kebas'd version, I've discovered that I'm not getting data refreshes. Is this a known problem?
