when I was calling the function from a shell it was importing DCOracle2 from the /usr/lib/python calling it from within zope is importing DCOracle2 from $ZOPE_HOME/bin/python It appears that these two copies of DCOracle2 are different. So I solved the problem by copying DCOracle2 from the standalone python into $ZOPE_HOME/lib/python2.1/site-packages. So far it is working. I hope this will not be a problem down the road. MySQL Database not working well with Zope

I'm new to setting up my own Zope and MySQL Servers, so I'm not sure if I just didn't configure it correctly or what, but I'm now getting errors when I try to connect to my MySQL server. I'm currently using Zope 2.5.1 and MySQL Max 3.23.51 with the myodbc-2.50.39-nt package, and connect to the MySQL server using the Z ODBC Database Adapter Product. The root of my Zope installation is J:\Zope_2-5-1\Ricepail_Com. It seems to be set up correctly, as it was working fine at first. When I entered some data into a table I created, it worked fine with zope. However, when I tried to add longer entries into a cell of type "text" (smaller, 2-sentence entries worked fine) the database stopped working, and I'd get the following error page: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. I think that the error has to do with the Product I installed and the size of the entry, because when I delete the row with the long entry and restart Zope, everything works fine again. I've tried altering what I entered into the database, changing the length of several of the values, but it still doesn't work when I make the "text" entry more than about 100 characters. When I go to a command-line interface, and try to show the contents of the database table, everything seems to look correct. Plone Newbie Seeks Help

Hi, I am a Plone/Zope Newbie and have some questions that I hope someone out there will be able to help me with. 1. I have created a new tabs on my site as per the instructions at http://plone.org/documentation/CustomizingPlone but when I select it, the tab isn't displayed in the selected colour in the same way that the Welcome page is for instance. I can see from the page source that my new page does not use the selected class, but I don't know how get it to do this. 2. Another new tab (which incidently is displayed correctly and was created in the same way) is for teams (I'm developing a web site for my sons youth football club), and I have created the following Folder structure; Root Folder safc (CMF Site which I think was created as a Plone site) teams (Plone Folder) u9 (Plone Folder) u10 (Plone Folder) I have a DTML Method called navigation in /Root Folder/safc containing <ul> <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Folder')"> <li> <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title_or_id></a> </li> </dtml-in> </ul> as per the ZopeZoo example in the ZopeBook. My index_html (DTML Method) in /Root Folder/safc/teams is <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id> <dtml-var document_title></h2> <p> This is the <dtml-var document_id> Document in the <dtml-var title_and_id> Folder. </p> <dtml-var navigation> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> If I visit the teams folder I get an undefined error type with a value of portal_url not found in 'portal_url', at line 7, column 1 I have tried changing my navigation object to list 'Plone Folder' but this doesn't make any difference to the failure. How should I be creating a list of Plone Folders? And have I created them in the correct place? 4. I was intending to use a free Zope host (ie http://www.nipltd.net/Free or http://www.freezope.org/) but they do not have Plone installed. Will I be able to install Plone on either of these hosts, or are there other free hosts that I could use? Hi, I have been banging my head against this too long now, I have to ask: Scenario: - Apache as frontend with ProxyPass rules - ZServer should serve a certain address, say http://www.xx.com/zopeit from a certain sub"floder" in the Zope hierarchy. Sounds easy doesn't it ? But for my life I cannot get the ProxyPass /VHM settings right. Any takers ? BTW. Is there any good documentation on VHM ? It took me a long time to figure out that VirtualHostBase is a literal and shouldn't be replaced with anything as I tried to do. Ummm... you appear to be missing the C++ compiler or the setup.py is referencing a compiler different from the one you have in place. Look at the setup.* files and modify them as appropriate. This from a quick google on "cl.exe" gives a bit more information. Thanks. cl.exe is the name of Microsoft's C/C++ compiler. Zope is tested with MSVC (MicroSoft Visual C++) version 6 on Windows. If you don't have MSVC6, that explains it. If you do have MSVC6, there's a world of other possibilities, but one step at a time. Database table problem

Hello, I think this question is OT but nevertheless. I don't know where to put my question elsewhere. I use Zope as some kind of 'frontend' for an relational database. I want to use the database to store laws. The idea is to retrieve articles with "SELECT FROM law WHERE article_number >= x and article_number <= y". Unfortunately not all law articles are numbered with 1, 2, 3, etc. If they were I could define article_number as integer. But some articles are numbered with 1, 2, 2a ... 13ab etc. When I define the article_number as char and I retrieve I get a result with an sorting order like this: 1,10,11,11a,11b,12, 13ab ... 2a, 20, 21,21a. I could not find a database who supports "natural sort". Has someone an idea to work around this problem with Zope? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dear zope-specialists i have a zope-problem: When i do some task in the www-zope-interface, which needs a lot of time (i.e. to build a large ZCatalog) then zope gives message: server timout Questions: * Is it possbile to change the timout-parameter? If so, how can I do it? * Is it possible to to some task on zope-objects completely outside the www-zope-interface. I mean: I write an external python-script an do some calculations with the objects. If so, how have i to do the connectins python -> zope? cookie crumbler problem

hi, I've been trying to use the cookie crumbler product for authentication on my Zope project, but have hit a problem I can't understand: I put a Cookie Crumbler product in the root user directory .../zope/blah/ and create the default login_form, logged_in and logged_out dtml methods. But when I try to access that page, .../zope/blah/ the browser just redirects to itself: ...zope/blah/login_form?came_from=http://.../zope/blah/index_html which spins forever in IE5, and breaks Mozilla with a "redirection limit exceeded" I'm probably doing something stupid, but can't see what. (I'm using Zope 2.5.1, Python 2.1.3 on Solaris 7, and Cookie Crumbler 0.5) TIA Ben Avery YouthNet UK
