Session Invalidate doesn't work

Hi! Within my Zope web site, I've included a logout functionality that is supposed to log the user out of the system, redirecting him to the login page. So far so good, but the script I call to perform the whole logout process besides redirecting to the login page, also ends (or should end) the session. The code I used to "end" the session was the following: container.session_data_manager.getSessionData().invalidate() I even tried the following instead: SESSION.invalidate() SESSION.getBrowserIdManager().flushBrowserIdCookie() And what happens is that although the logout process seems to work fine (the SESSION variables no longer exist), the transient container for the session data, instead of decreasing or at least maintaining the number of items, increases it!!! Any suggestion/solution? kind regards, Vitor Varalonga

ZOPE: Co-operation with UNESCO

Dear Collegue, UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) wishes to promote the use of open-source and freware products/free services in the field of education in developing countries, presenting their main characteristics on its web-site in a harmonised way and obtaining royalty-free use, when this needs specific negotiations. Session object duplicate key

Hi! I'm using the session manager for a simple home built e-commerce system with some code borrowed from the Zope examples. I don't know where to start searching for... specially because I am not able to determine which parameters/states produce this error. I understand that maybe my old session key is still alive in the server. I could clean it up, but it isn't a good solution for regular users. ;-) Any hint would be appreciated. form variables and **kw

Hi all, I have some questions. Say I have a external method/product method return_vars which I call from a form: def return_vars(self, var=None, **kw): return "var: %s, kw: %s" % (var,kw) Is it correct that any passed form variable besides "var" will get lost, i.e. that ZPublisher will _not_ marshall the other variables into the method call? If so, why? Is this a python limitation? I played around with co_varnames and python doesn't seem to offer a possibility to recognize **kw as something special. Where does this marshalling happen, in ZPublisher/mapply.py? TIA, oliver

update: if I reboot my machine, I can again connect to the zope server, so the problem is not with OrderedFolder... Am I restarting zope the wrong way? I use zopectl restart (and als tried zopectl force-reload) thanks, christian

Hi, I encountered this problem: after installing OrderedFolder-0.5.1 on my local machine and restarting zope, I can no longer connect to the server at all (I get "connection to http://localhost:8080 refused"). I tried deleting the OrderedFolder directory from ..lib/python/Products and restarting, but that doesn't help. Any ideas? Also - I have a question on setting up two zope instances on a debian system. I'd like to have 2 zope instances (maybe listening on different ports?) so that I can set the "production" instance up behind apache, while I experiment with changes on the second instance (which I'd connect to directly through its port). My question is: can anyone point me to some documentation on how to set up multiple zope instances? A description relevent to Debian's setup would be particularly useful. Thanks! Christian

Version problems

I've just had a problem where after making many changes in a version I saved the changes. Strangely only half of the changes were actually saved. After saving, the version would report that it had no changes to save, but when not working in the version there were still locked objects visible in the ZMI. Starting to work in the version showed these objects as changed, with their new code intact, but the version still thought it had nothing to save. I think I've now got things back to normal by going through the site and finding all the changed objects then re-saving them in the version and saving the version again. Has anyone seen this sort of problem before? Is it likely to occur again? Should I delete the version in case it is corrupt in some way, and if so, is there any way to check before I do that there aren't any changes in it that I might have missed. We are on Zope 2.4.3 windows binary release running on NT4 SP6.
