Automating zexp installation

My apologies if this is a FAQ, but is there an easy way to automate the installation of the zexp files? Every time we rev our in-house zope modules, we have to do the following: o import the zexp files o install/reload the external methods for each module o install a SiteRoot for each module (because we are using an apache proxy) That's a lot of mouse clicks, and prone to human error. How can I automate the above operations via a shell/python script? Many thanks in advance for any pointers. -- Paul

standard_error_message wired variable expansion

Hello, i installed my own standard_error_message and it works fine so far. I found that in case of a "NotFound" error the AUTHENTICATED_USER is lost. But what is worse is, that I can not display error_value. error_type is 'NotFound' and I can display it, but if display error_value the Zope default error message (<table ...) is shown. Please find an example output below, here is the code <dtml-var error_type> <dtml-var error_value> Any ideas how to display a correct error message? Even when I display error_tb some variable will expand to this ridiculous html table. Hi, It does contain nc_report_no from the first form that prompts for this information. I do not have nc_report_no set global. I have the ZSQL query looking for the input without the ':string="%"'. The user will add their info to the next form and I write the record. Most times they will have several of these records. I provide a link to back to the previous form. But if I go back, the <dtml-in> call needs the value of nc_report_no. If I add the global syntax in than the user the first time through will error. The error message would be that the variable was not globally assign yet. Is there a syntax I can use to include another folder in my namespace, when I wont know which folder until runtime? For example, if I have similarly-named preferences for different customers in folders CUST1 and CUST2, I would like to at run-time be able to do something similar to: <dtml-with "CurrentCustomerString"> to get the correct customer folder in my namespace. hide nested classes in a python products -- how?

Hi, I'm re-implementing my nested ZClass product as a python product. The ZClass product contains a class 'portal' which is the only one which should be add-able to any ordinary folder, and a cascade of further classes which can be added inside the portal. In my classes I'm able to restrict the list of contained classes via _allowed_meta_types. But in an ordinary Folder, any object can be added. Is it possible to prevent the further classes to show up in the normal list, so that only 'portal's can be added to a normal Folder object? Add icons for msword or pdf documents in dtml-tree?

I did some searching and found some info on Zproducts and Zclasses. Is that what it takes to add an icon to a specific content-type? I found a How-To a few months back about adding icons in your tree tag, but I can find it anywhere now. (I should have printed it when I saw it!) When I add documents to a folder, they are added as meta-type: file. Is there an easy way to associate the icon to the content-type? Or, is it easier to just add the dtml-if statements for each image source I have? How to cat strings together that may be NULL?

I am trying to cat several fields together into one string from a mysql table. I keep getting an error about "Cannot add type "None" to string". I am guessing that some of my feilds are NULL. My goal is to copy the columns from one table and dump them into one column of another. I have this: <dtml-in sqlGetTableColumns> <dtml-call "REQEST.set('tbldata', Field1, Field2, Field3, Field4)"> <dtml-call "sqlInsertDump(DumpCol=tbldata,User=AUTHENTICATED_USER)"> </dtml-in> Field3 and Field4 are usually NULL, but not always, so I want to capture them as well. Managing local roles with a script

I have a CMF site. In the site there are three folders, A, B and C which I call products. To view a product you need the "Broker" role. I want to be able to "accredit" a user for any combination of product A, B and C. Thus I wrote a script, assigning the local Role "Broker" to a user for the folder A, B or C (according to his accreditation). This works fine. I also want to be able to remove the accreditation. So I wrote a script that removes the local roles for those accreditations that were removed. My problem is with the removing. The script has proxy role Manager, Broker (and just about anything else by now!) but I cannot get it to remove the roles. In the script I have tried: productFolder.manage_delLocalRoles([userId]) AND context.portal_membership.deleteLocalRoles(productFolder, [userId]) Out of the source I understand why the latter doesn't work - it ignores proxy roles and uses manage_delLocalRoles anyway. Why doesn't the first one also not work? Does it also ignore proxy roles? The script works if I am logged in as "Manager", but I want a "BrokerManager" user to also be able to use this script without giving him full "Manager" rights. B.t.w. the above fails silently, no exception, the role removal just doesn't happen. Thanks Etienne

Newbie-Zope/Python: Enclosing Object ID?

So here's a question... How, in a zope python-script object, do I determine the enclosing/parent folderish-item of any given object-item without making reference to something like request.PARENTS[0] or something like that? I know it has to be something simple but I'm just not seeing it. Thanks -Ted

ftp connection to remote Zope-Server

Hi, I want to connect my local Zope (win98, Zope 2.5.1) to a remote Zope-Server only by ftp-access. The following external method from zopelabs seems to connect somehow but doesn work (no files are sent): 1. How can I log the info from the remote Server to see where the problem is? 2. Is "_ftp.set_pasv(1)" ok to enable passive mode for operating from behind a firewall? Has anybody positive experience with this or other methods of ftp-connection between 2 Zope-server?
