Hi all, I wanted to see which of my links are getting clicked, so I made each links go to a little script which builds the url and then does a RESPONSE.redirect. This works fine for redirects to html pages, but gives a very odd result for PDFs. A new window opens as expected, the correct URL appears in the address bar but in the title bar at the top of the browser window is the address of my script, 'display source' is disabled (explorer), and in the Z2.log entry, the useragent signature is replaced by 'contype'. Evidently this has to do with the content-type of the page, but I am at a loss about what to do. Can I set a content-type header along with the redirect? I've searched... I wanted this to be automatic, and the only hint about the content-type would be from the string '.pdf' in the URL... Any explanations out there? And where did 'contype' come from?? Cheers, Ken

In essence, although an exception is raised the data still gets written to the database. What you need to do is capture the exception gadfly.store.StorageError and when it occurs issue a rollback. e.g. in Python; >>> db = gadfly.gadfly('myDb', 'myDbDir') >>> cursor = db.cursor() >>> try: ... cursor.execute("INSERT INTO table (col1, col2, col3) values (?, ?, ?)", val1, val2, val3) ... except gadfly.store.StorageError: ... db.rollback() I'm a bit new to Zope so hopefully some kind soul will help translate this to the appropriate DTML or other appropriate form. Writing a Script To Thumbnail Photos

Hi; I know it's easy to write a script that proportionally changes the width and height of jpegs, but can I programmatically change the size of the image at the same time? In other words, in Photoshop I can make thumbnails that are considerably lighter than the original photos. Can I do the same programmatically? Is that what PIL is for? If so, any heads up on available scripts? TIA, beno

ObjectManagerItem: does it exist?

during chat on #zope I told somebody to have his class inherit from ObjectManagerItem. Server Won't Start--Any help?

I am trying to start the server and I get the following error. The server will not respond to any http requests, it just hangs. Any ideas? Passing parameters to obj found by path expressions in ZPT?

Is there a way to pass parameters to the methods on objects referenced by path expressions? Programmatic creation/update of ZSQL methods

I've got about 60 or so ZSQL methods that I maintain in my Zope. Actually, I don't maintain them: our Oracle expert changes them then I have to translate them into DTML, split them into little chunks, and upload them into zope. Since I'm terribly lazy I've automated the DTMLification and the splitting. But the third step of uploading the ZSQL bodies is tricker. Currently I'm uploading them via FTP but this requires that the methods already exist (due to a lack of object type magic). I've also tried using xmlrpc but manage_addZSQLMethod does not seem to live on Folder so I'm not sure how I can call it. So my question is: How can I create ZSQL methods from an external program (a python script in this case)? I've got the body, the id, the destination, the connection id, the parameters... everything but a clue. I know about PUT_factory but I didn't have much luck with that either.

Zope and MySQL on Windows

Greetings- I have a fairly mature Python application which uses MySQL for the database. I would like to switch over from a single machine application to a web based app (and maybe even make some money!!), and thought Zope would be the logical choice. The past 2 weeks have had me running through the examples in the Zope book and the Zope "Bible", and I *think* I am ready to create a project. Then I read the the creators of Zope do not reccommend using MySQL with Zope on a Windows box. Rats! So... 1. Is this still sound advice? 2. If so, what other Open Source Database is out there. I really would like data/time data types, so that would leave Gadfly out, right? Plus. my database is getting fairly large (~5 Meg), so I'm not sure I want to load it all in memory. is horizontal layout with Formulator forms possible?

Is it possible to force horizontal layout of fields within a Formulator group? For example, if I have a group called "name" with stringtype elements "first" and "last", it is layed out as name first __________ last __________ Is there some way to get it to lay out the group as name first __________ last __________ ? I looked all around the Formulator tabs but didn't see anything. Extending the concept a bit farther, is there some way to nest groups within other groups? Outbound HTTPS Request

Hi, I am trying to implement a subscription process using PayPals (http://www.paypal.com) IPN (Immediate Payment Notification) service. This service sends me a notification of a payment (via http), directly from the paypal server. This is easy to process using Zope. However, I am required to validate the payment, using a secure link. My Zope Server needs to send a secure HTTP request to the remote Paypal server. My question involves two parts: What is the best way (or even a way) of sending an outbound server to server http request from my Zope server to another server? How can I send a https request (using a verisign certificate) from Zope / Python? Thanks Kevin
