Where does "field_" prefix come from in Formulator fields?

It appears that when expanding a Formulator form field a "field_" prefix gets tacked onto the field name. For example, one field I have is named "postal_code". When this <td tal:content="structure here/form/postal_code/render">item</td> is rendered it expands to <td><input size="10" value="" type="text" name="field_postal_code" /></td> although I named to the object "postal_code", not "field_postal_code". ZCatalog query optimisation

Hi... I have a quite big ZCatalog, on which I have to make several queries including several indexes. Is there any way to optimize such queries (query parameters order, index types,...) ?? Catalog stange behaviour

Hello zopers, Here is my situation: 1-I have a collection of objects based on a Zclass (catalog aware) 2-I have a script to create new instances 3-One to modify existing instances 4-A script that update properties used by script 2 & 3. It manage_editPeoperties... And finishes with context.reindex_object() Everything works fine, but... When I update an object I get it twice in the Catalog list , why ? Bobobase_modification_time is not updated (it is a Fieldindex index) I have to manually update the Catalog for everything to get right again. Any idea ? Known bugs? Using Zope 2.5.1

PageTemplate ... dtml-comment

What is the recommended way for commenting page templates? The <dtml-comment> in dtml was awkward, but it was readily apparent that the content between the tags was for comment only. Could use html comments , unless you don't want the commentary in the published html. How are you handling this? Mark

zope & document management systems

Hello all, Some people at my university have developed a free, LGPL'ed, modular Document Management System. About a year ago, because of some other project, they were so disgusted by the licensing scheme of Documentum that they decided they would try and create a free alternative. After a few months of work by several people, it's starting to look very good, and they are thinking about doing a first release within the next few months. I am thinking about writing a Zope plugin/extension for this Document Management System (excuse my terminology, I'm new to Zope,) that would enable its contents to be accessed/searched through uniformly with other content, using Zope's generic framework. But as I'm rather new to Zope, it's difficult to see what would be the most natural way of accomplishing this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Specifically, the following would be important features: -Users can upload documents and provide metadata which are subsequently copied into the DMS. -The metadata and document contents are indexed in the generic way, I believe it is called a ZCatalog :-) I see that a product called 'ExternalFile' provides an abstraction for accessing files external to Zope. Would it be possible to enhance this product for my purposes? Or would it be more natural to use some other product as a starting point? As a final question, does anyone know of an earlier attempt at creating something similar, but for another DMS? Any help in this is greatly appreciated. Thanks, -- Mark Dufour. Data.fs grows rapidly in size and crashes Zope !!!

Something very disturbing started happening the morning to one of my Zope servers. Does anyone have any analysis and suggested solution? My Zope 2.51 data.fs (which is normally very small at about 6mb) starts rapidly expanding in size until it exceeds 2GB file size limit and crashes Zope. This server, running on W2K has been stable for over three months. What could be going on? Restarting Zope after shut-down / crash?

I'd like Zope to restart automatically upon reboot. I found the following z2.py argument with Zope 2.6, but by itself it doesn't seem to do much. From the z2.py --help: > -Z 0 or 1 > > UNIX only! This pidfile no longer > exists). I'm running Zope on Linux (RH 7.3), but I'm a Linux newbie. Is this the way to get Zope to start on boot? If so, why doesn't it seem to work? Do I need to install / run as root? I know there are other ways to start Zope on boot, but I wonder if adding this parameter to my start script would work somehow. I did add the argument ('-Z1' and '-Z 1') to my start script, but Zope doesn't start upon rebooting. Thanks in advance, Jon Whitener Detroit
