I think that part of the reason for folks looking for a zope.cgi file from the source distribution is that (when I was looking to do the same thing) most of the existing documentation available still says to do so. Of course, once I was poking around in the Zope directories and found it had been automatically generated for me, I was pretty impressed. Zope 2.5 upgrade help!

Hello I have tried to install a second version of zope on my Win2000 pc. I had the Zope 2.4.3 running as a service before. I have: - stopped the old zope service. - installed the 2.5 version in ANOTHER folder. Now it's a mess: - I can manually start both Zope services(one at a time of course), but if I press the restart button (zope interface) it seams zope doesn't restart. This on the old and new version. The restart was working well on the old(2.4.3) version before the 2.5 install. this is annoying . what's the solution? How to remove a service under win2000? Thanks Gilles

I've had problems with environment variables for NT services before, and I'll bet that others are having problems too, so it is worth elaborating them here. What has confused me here, and when I was trying to install DCOracle2 immediately after installing the Oracle client software, is that any changes to the systems environment variables will not be inherited by services until after the machine has been rebooted. So, this time setting Z_REALM as an environment variable had no effect, and when trying to run DCOracle2 it could not find oci.dll because the oracle\bin folder wasn't on the path. Open a command prompt and the variables are there, run a service and they aren't. One reboot later everything is fine. Perhaps it should have been obvious that the environment varianbles were inherited from the parents environment, not picked up from the registy or somewhere, but I bet this catches a lot of people out. Re:MySQL and Zope products problems

Thanks for the replies. We now have a working MySQL connection to Zope. It was mainly due to not being logged in as the correct user when we ran the python 'install' for MySQL. Once we did that, it all worked fine. Whilst Zope is now talking to our little test MySQL db, we have another odd problem. Whenever we have to logout of the server and/or restart it (shouldn't be that often), our install of Linux MySQL (an rpm) stops working and disappears! We get an error that says it can't find the socket to connect to the local MySQL server. When we look (in /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock), the socket is no longer there! Our test db is still okay, but other files related to MySQL have vanished. If we re-install the rpm then all is fine again, until the next time the server is restarted then we lose it all again! Anyone got any ideas what's going on? We're using SuSE Linux 7.3 Professional and MySQL v3.23.47-1 (rpm). Richard H.

'make clean' for Zope-src

Hi, We experience incidental crashes with Zope 2.4.3 / Python 2.1.1. I've read that python 2.1.2 may fix this problem, and people who upgrade are advised to rebuild Zope as well. However, I have a rather custom Zope source tree. Is there a way to do a proper 'make clean' in the zope tree? Removing *.o *.pyc *.so *.pyo doesn't seem to do the trick - I end up with an even more unstable Zope (and very scary python stack frame errors). With regards, Ivo -- Drs. You don't need the source distribution. If you download the binary distribution for Windows, zope.cgi can be found in the root of the Zope installation, and the Persistent CGI stuff can be found in the pcgi directory. To open the source distribs, you need a utility like WinZip or StuffIt Expander on your PC. Actually, any compression program that handles tar and gzip compressed files should do the trick. Hello, my application uses basic authentication. The browser opens a window and the user is asked to authenticate for realm "Zope". How can I change that "Zope" to something like my applications name?
