First Release of Quotafolder QuotaFolder is a folder-ish object that restricts the total number of objects, their total size and their individual maximum size. QuotaFolder takes subfolders (recursively) into account, so it should not be possible to escape the quota restrictions. New PropertyManager

I would like to add some things to the PropertyManager: 1. mulitple selections should be a list of check-boxes. I don't like the ctrl-click method in the select-box. 2. Would be nice if each property has a second name, which is used for displaying it to the user. This is neccesarry if you have properties with umlauts. Is someone interested in this, or is there already a solution? thomas

"No module named Splitter" on importing an 2.4.3 folder into 2.5.1b1

I've exported a folder from a Zope 2.4.3 server, but when I try to import it into a Zope 2.5.1b1 server I get the error below about no Splitter module; both Zope servers are running on the same Solaris 8 machine. There is a howto at: http://www.zope.org/Members/cybertad/how_to/homesite Basically, go the Allaire (Macromedia) FTP & RDS, right click on the world icon and add an FTP server ip or domain name, which is your Zope. Here you would add the ftp port (8021 by default; see you z2.py) user name and password (that you have created as a Zope acl_user account. The limit, which I have never seen a solution to, is how to get HomeSite to see zope objects with no extensions. Adding .htm to each zope object you want to edit will do the trick for allowing edits, but there are some negative scripting implications for doing that. I'm looking forward to Macromedia fixing this someday in Dreamweaver and Homesite. No idea if they will. It does not seem to be a priority for them. Have you tried UltraEdit or the newest version of Textpad. I have yet to see if these programs have the above limitations. It's got many if not most of the basic services, like authentication, threaded discussions, etc., in the form of freely available Products, that otherwise would cost big bucks from the LMS vendors. Not one vendor i've talked to offers the scalability of Zope ZEOS. The limitations would mainly be the multimedia content module interfaces themselves (AKA Flash, Authorware, Director, Toolbook content). Ferinstance, Flash 5 has big problems with how it does CGI, and I've seen similar problems with the CGI communications Xtras in Authorware and Director. Zope handles this stuff as it should, i.e well. External (flash/authorware/toolbook/director) content can be embedded in the Zope or linked to via a front-end Apache. I can't think of a better way to manage ever-changing html content than a content management system like Zope. You would also need to set up your AICC / SCORM compliant fields in a Zope compatible relational database of your choice, or develop your own tracking standards, but that's not a zope issue. Not at all, Yes, registering a SIGPIPE handler that does nothing in z2.py fixes the problem. And I have sent an e-mail to the DA maintainers, as well as python and postgres people to try and better understand the problem. I hope you dont mind me replying to the list... Actually, if registering a SIGPIPE signal handler "fixes" the problem, that is a perfectly ok thing to do and probably should become part of Zope startup. Does this actually fix the problem? It'd be nice to understand the problem better though. dumb questions?

hi! i'm currently running 2.5.0b3, and looking to upgrade to 2.5.0 (stable) -- is there an upgrade patch? or do i need to get the 2.5.0 (stable) source, unzip into my existing dir, and compile? i'm on Windows, unfortunately. :) i'm assuming that if i use the latest binary distro (5+Mb), it'll mess up what i've already got, right? jake

Hi all, I have a question about security and users in Zope. I'm trying to set up a system where a user sees the list of subfolders in a folder. The problem is that the user can only see those subfolders that he/she has access to. I've tried a number of different methods but none seem to work, specifically using AUTHENTICATED_USER.has_permission('View', MySubfolder) Let's say I have a folder called projects: projects/ (User 'Bill' role='View_Only') /project1 (User 'Bill' role='Manager') /project2 (User 'Bill' no role specified) Using the following dtml method I can get Bill's roles in each folder: <dtml-in "AUTHENTICATED_USER.getRoles()"> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in> So far so good, in the 'projects' folder I get: >>View_Only >>Authenticated And in the project1 folder I get >>Manager >>Authenticated Looks good, except that when I call my method from above FROM the projects folder Using the following code: <dtml-in expr="objectValues(['Folder'])"> <dtml-var title><br> <dtml-var roles> </dtml-in> I get the following input >>project1 >>View_only >>Authenticated >> >>project2 >>View_only >>Authenticated The roles for project2 makes sense since Bill inherits his role there from the parent folder. Error with context.absolute_url() in Python script

Hi all : ) I am hacking away at a CMF content type. This content type has an edit() method. There is a page template in a skins folder called mycontenttype_edit_form. The form in this PT submits to a Python script called mycontenttype_edit, which is also in the same skins folder. In this Python script, the edit() method is called through context.edit(), and then the user is redirected using a context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect() call. In order to get the right address to redirect them to, I call context.absolute_url() and add some stuff to the end of the string. I am getting an error on context.absolute_url(). The traceback shows that the context is an instance of my content type. The context.edit() call is working fine.
