Strange pdf problem

Hi, We have a pdf file in our database, and there's a Problem with displaying it. Using the "native" Address http://multimedia.zawiw.uni-ulm.de/zope/solill/forum-guide.pdf both netscape 4.7 and mozilla 0.9.8 load the acrobat plugin, but don't display the file (the window just stays white or grey). I tested this with the linux versions, but one my users (the one who pointed me to this problem) is working with windows, and has the same problem. Fetching the via wget or via save-as right klick in a browser works fine, the retreived file can be viewed with acroread without problems. Also, accessing the document via https works fine, either through the management interface path https://multimedia.zawiw.uni-ulm.de/zmanager/zawiw/solill/forum-guide.pdf and via a https mapping of the native path https://multimedia.zawiw.uni-ulm.de/zope/solill/forum-guide.pdf - in both cases, netscape just displays the file via pdf plugin. Does anyone have any idea what's happening here? Feel free to try to download the file for yourself for diagnostic purposes. This really just sounds like byte-serving problems. Acroread, I believe just loads up enough of the doc to get an index of byte offsets for each page page and stops the download after the first page can be displayed - it doesn't have to load the whole doc. This, of course assumes that the HTTP server supports (correctly) byte-serving. What version of Zope is being used? The browser is still the one managing the TCP/IP and HTTP connections. But Acroread won't display anything on the screen until it has the entire document--this is different from HTML, where browsers try to render as much as they can as soon as they can. It might be a problem with HTTP 1.1 chunks... If you have the time, do this: Do an ethereal sniff of a single (failed) PDF request, save that as a parsed, human-readable text file (I don't remember the ethereal options), and then post it somewhere via HTTP and send the URL to the mailing list. Are you asking whether standard Zope can accept an FTP login and, depending on the user ID presented, automatically do an FTP cd to the user's "home" folder, having determined where that is by computation from which acl_user folder their user ID is defined in? If so, I think the answer is probably no. howto sql-query directly from my products methods?

well, i could instantiate a bunch of zsql methods, each with its own query and then call them from my products methods. but how could i obviate the need to have these zsql methods and query directly? get pages from wiki with dtml or python

Hi: I want to get some information from a wiki page using either dtml or a python script. Thing is, when I do <dtml-var WikiPage> Sometimes the page is there, sometimes the page is not there (Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: WikiPage), and sometimes the page is there, but not _all_ there (seems like maybe it is an older version? hard to tell...) I get the same exact behaviour using print context.wiki.WikiPage return printed in a python script. I use ange-ftp to edit files using emacs, so I dont run into this issue. But, you are probably running into this issue because of emacs backup file feature. There is a way to turn it off, but I have not dug into this in enough depth to just tell you how. acces to file properties on a precondition - WILL SUMMARIZE

Hello, Just trying to test the new (?) policy for writing more how-tos and summarized text for the community and see the right (tm) to do it ;- ) - I have a subclassed file (with some more properties like 'approved') - I want to use the precondition to check if the file is approved before allowing the donwload - i have a dtml-method for doing it and all is fine __exept__ that the context of this script seems to be the container and not the file. The precondition method aquire the property ('approved') from the container (folder) and __not__ from the file. I tried to use lotta <dtml-with>, some aq_explicit, without luck. I also send a mail from the precondition (with the REQUEST and some id/title as informations) for debugging, and it shows that __everything__ comes from the container. So, I tried to see where is the problem with an external method (stolen from Dieter) def baseHasAttr(object,attrname): obj= getattr(object,aq_base,object) return hasattr(obj,attrname) and calling <dtml-if "baseHasAttr(this(),'approved')> from the precondition script. and this test shouts : __false__ even if there __is__ an 'approved' property on the file object. So i'm lost, and can't figure why i can't access the object instead of the container in the precondition. Is it because of a wrong syntax ? Did i missed some aquisition trick ? Do this fails because it's derived from file ? Any help welcome, and .... Meta Type, how to change?

Hi, I created an own product using ZClasses. How can I change the Meta Type of my ZClasses? Editing the Meta Type value in /Control_Panel/Products/<my product>/<my zclass>/propertysheets/basic has no effect. The value I set at the first time, I created the ZClass still appears in the selection list for new objects. Thanks, Marcus
