I'm writing an external zeo client program that needs to interact with zclasses. When I try and load a zclass from the database I get the following: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in ? Zope is doing it so I assume there is a function somewhere for this but I have yet to find it. Any help or examples would be welcomed. Thanks, -EAD

dtml-in, ZSQL Method, date argument problem

I have been trying for a while to get arguments passed to a ZSQL Method from inside a dtml-in loop. My top level objective is to update a table with multiple changes to date/times and descriptions in records about conference sessions input from a form. Having read many posts here and other documentation, my current attempt should work, but I can't get it right yet. Zope FTP Hang File List Problem

Hi. I am experienceing a problem FTP'ing into zope that has previously been discussed on this list, with no apprent solution. When I FTP to Zope from Win98 or a Mac OSX that are behind a Cisco 675 DSL router running NAT, ftp hangs (according to the Z2.log) at: ==> 200 PORT command successful. == LIST ==> 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file list ... hangs i.e. it hangs when FTP tries to list directories and files. I've seen lots of discussion about this, but no solution. Has anyone found one? nested calls

I got the following problem (I'm using Zope 2.5.0): When my index_html is called the following is supposed to happen: index_html calls a dtml-method in a subfolder which then calls a ZSQL-method stored in another subfolder. It works fine as long as the index_html is accessing the dtml-method and this dtml-method doesn't need to acces another dtml-method not in the same folder. If I try to call another dtml-method in another folder then it simply can't be found. What can I do? Is there something like the context variable in pythonscripts?? By the way: I tried to it with dtml-with but that also didn't work.

Changing CookieCrumbler

Hi, I am trying to improve cookiecrumbler (version 0.3) to meet my needs. But I am no Python expert, so I wonder if someone is able to assist me a bit. This is the case: - I want cookiecrumbler to put the username as well as the password into a cookie. - If the cookie is read later, the user is authenticated (with username and password) and logged in without using the login form that comes with cookiecrumbler - If the cookie is not present (or contains a not authenticated user) then cookiecrumbler's login form is presented to the user. Now I looked at the python source of cookiecrumbler and there is a comment saying that only the username is saved in a cookie, so I added the following line to the source: resp.setCookie(self.pw_cookie, pw, path='/', expires=expires) below the setCookie for the username. But now Cookiecrumbler just give me the password instead of the username in de loginform. What do I have to add to the source tot let cookiecrumbler puts username and password into the cookie and read username and password from the cookie to login and authenticate and leave the loginform alone? Thread syncronization

Hi! Some month ago there was a thread about creating unique IDs. Is it possible to syncronize the threads in zope with the "thread" module in python? [1] If yes, the problem would be easy to solve. SiteRoot and URL1 cause different namespace error

Greetings, I'm having a problem resolving URL's running in ZServer mode with a SiteRoot. Some background: httpd.conf contains: ProxyPass / http://localhost:8080/ ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:8080/ ProxyVia on The SiteRoot is: base = https://my.server.com path = / If I create the following DTML method, I get a "Different Namespace" error: URL is: <dtml-var URL1> <p> Content is: <dtml-var "REQUEST.resolve_url(URL1)"> In testing, I have found that I can fix this error by changing the last line to: Content is: <dtml-var "REQUEST.resolve_url('http://' + REQUEST.HTTP_HOST + URLPATH1)"> This isn't a very elegant solution, though. How can I get Zope to properly resolve the URL1 variable? Thanks, Steve

Relational database & user permissions (select, add, update, delete)

I've run into a problem while developing a multi-user database application using Postgresql and Zope with ZSQL methods. I need user\group based security for the database similar to... User A can select from table FOO but cannot update, delete, or add records to FOO. User B can select, update and delete from FOO but cannot add records to FOO. ... but most Database Adapters use a single, static user login for database connections. The single user login provides for easy db connection configuration but doesn't help when you want to use a databases built-in security. I don't really want to program this logic in python when Postgresql already has said features. Does anyone have experience implementing user-level database security in a Zope app? If so, could you reply with some suggestions or examples please. Thanks, Jon Erickson

Hello, Jeff. I'm sorry for my lack of clarity; I'm a zope newbie. What I need to do is store ZPTs on the local filesystem, and have them treated as page templates when they are browsed. As it stands, they are served as the text of the source. If you have LocalFS installed, you can see what I mean by trying two things: 1) try to add a Page Template to a localFS directory: Error Value: Cannot add objects of type 'Page Template' to local directories. 2) copy the text of a ZPT into a file ending in .zpt in the directory on the filesystem, and try to 'view' it. I see that in the edit menu of the localFS instance (as well as in the source of the module), I have the ability to add new types to the type map. I have tried inserting an entry for .zpt, but nothing I've tried will get it to treat these files as page templates. Does this all make sense? Thanks for your help! blossom

Folder specific templates for DTML Document

hello, I need different DTML-Document-"Templates" (different source and properties) for different folders, but I don't want to create a (Z)Class for everything. So when a user adds a DTML Document in the folder 'Students' he should get the 'Students'-Default-DTML-Document (with properties like name, address, email), when adding a DTML Document in folder Events he should get the Event-Default-DTML-Document (properties like date, headline, description). My idea is a "patch" for DTMLDocument/addDTMLDocument: When a DTML Document with the name "standard_dtml_document" can be aquired, this will be cloned/copied into the new created DTML Document... with source and properties. So I can put my students-default-DTML-Document as "standard_dtml_document" into the students-folder, dito for my events-default-DTML-Document. Question: How can I "overwrite" (in a Product) the original addDTMLDocument with my own method (code see below), so I don't have to change OFS/DTMLDocument.py(thinking of ZOPE-updates)? Or is there already an existing solution which I did not see?
