Ho Roel, We installed Apache 2.0 several days ago on our servers using Redhat 7.2 and the Apache RPM. We haven't had any problems at all. One thing to note is that mod_proxy is not installed by default, if you use it for virtual hosting. We have several sites using Zope 2.5.1b1 on the server, but not CMF. All in all, it was quick and easy to upgrade. Bob Corriher P-Wave inc.

Cheers Max, that's exactly what I needed. Simply to check if the string contains those values.. something(a)something.something The fact that is is or isn't a real email address is not an issue for me ATM. SiteRoot and URL1 cause different namespace error

Greetings, (I apologize if this gets posted twice.) I'm having a problem resolving URL's running in ZServer mode with a SiteRoot. Some background: httpd.conf contains: ProxyPass / http://localhost:8080/ ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:8080/ ProxyVia on The SiteRoot is: base = https://my.server.com path = / If I create the following DTML method, I get a "Different Namespace" error: URL is: <dtml-var URL1> <p> Content is: <dtml-var "REQUEST.resolve_url(URL1)"> In testing, I have found that I can fix this error by changing the last line to: Content is: <dtml-var "REQUEST.resolve_url('http://' + REQUEST.HTTP_HOST + URLPATH1)"> This isn't a very elegant solution, though. How can I get Zope to properly resolve the URL1 variable? Thanks, Steve

Funny that, I could only get ZSyncer Version 0.3 to work with 2.5.0 and 2.5.1b1, on both Solaris and openBSD 3.0 ZSyncer < 0.4.3 does not work in Zope 2.5. I couldn't find documentation to that fact, but I did upgrade and fix the problem. Just an FYI if you happen to run into this. > I can't get ZSyncer working in Zope 2.5. Problems with ZSyncer in Zope 2.5

I can't get ZSyncer working in Zope 2.5. Whenever I try to do a sync I get a KeyError on the target host. The key error is "object" if nothing is check and "folders" if I try to sync a folder which does not yet exist on the client. Does anyone know if the patch is in the works or if I need to roll it myself?

Anybody have an Apache rewrite rule laying around that forces all http://www.mysite.org/SomeFolderLikeObject/manage/ requests to https://www.mysige.org/SomeFolderLikeObject/manage/ I can not seem to figure one out that works at all the levels "manage" is applicable. Carl

Testing interactive products

Hi I have an interactive product that behaves like a 'wizard', with many stages and links and choices along the path the user can take. I want to test it, and of course a "random-click-and-select-here-and-there" is inadmisible as a testing practice. I need at least documented, repeatable test cases, with its inputs and expected output. And a way to perform a set of test cases (automatically would be great). This is not strictly a Zope question, because the same thing could happen in many other interactive applications but I guess someone has got into this before. I dont want to write down things like "Write XXX on first input box, then select item YYY from list, then press CONTINUE button. Next page must have a list of 4 items, each with a blue icon and a link to...". I want to do the test in a more automatic way, but I cant realize how to do that... Checking Authenticated User Name???

Greetings All, I apologize if this question has been asked before, but I searched (and searched, and searched), but couldn't find any hint of an answer. The question that I have is: What's the best way to query the logged in user's name in a python script (not external script and not with DTML)? The API docs mention something about an AuthenticatedUser class, but I can't find the object anywhere in my ./Zope/lib/python directory, and it doesn't appear to be a class in any of the zope modules that I searched through. I did notice a reference to something like this... REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName() but, this doesn't seem like it would be any more secure than just assigning REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER to a variable. I'll be eternally grateful to the person who can answer this, or provide me with a good resource that can answer this. =) Sincerely, Jason Burke

The mailing list archives have some similar threads (not that many). Reasons have been: Networking/DNS problems: in some cases, Zope maps IP-addresses to Hostnames. This is a DNS query which can be very unpredictable. Once, a virus checker has been responsible slowing the the machine in an incredible way. Once, it was an email message generated in "standard_html_message". The connection to the email server hang. The Zope owner was unaware that "standard_html_message" was called (it was for an "Unauthorized" exception. Usually, you do not see the error report). Of course, there are much more potential reasons. Dieter
