Preloading images in Zope?

Hi, We are having a little bit of a problem with preloading images in Zope. On our display pages, we are preloading them in the usual way using Javascript, but we are finding that we are still getting a server hit when they are mouse-overed. This is only happening with pages (and images) in Zope. Has anyone come across this before? Know how we might be able to get around it? Thanks! Di

Zope and LDAP

One more question for everyone. How do I access data in an LDAP database from Zope without using LDAP UserFolder? I don't want people to have to log in to view our LDAP server (it's a phonebook app), but adding LDAPUserFolder to a folder seems to force people into authenticating. I'd like to just do: import ldap l = ldap.initialize("ldap://ldap.inktomi.com:389") l.simple_bind_s("","") res = l.search_s("ou=People, dc=inktomi, dc=com", ldap.SCOPE_ONELEVEL, "uid=%s" % requestor_uid); print res[1]["userpassword"][0] ...in a python script, after a form is posted, based on whateveer requestor_uid is (filled out in a previous form), but it's strange, I get a popup for an authentication box (even when the script has full proxy rights as manager) when this attempts to initalize. The error I get after I abort the login popup is: Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access initialize in this context (everything works in command-line python, btw.) Zope 2.5.0, thread stack issues

I'm in the process of moving a site from a (much) earlier release of Zope, up to 2.5.whatever. In making this migration, I have encountered a problem with segmentation faults and spontaneous Zope restarts that sounds an awful lot like the problems some BSD users were encountering earlier. The principal difference between my case and theirs is that they're on BSD, where the thread stack size is by default yitty-bitty (64k), and I'm working on Linux, where the thread stack size is by default really huge (2MB). The solution previously recommended was to boost the thread stack size to 128k; Linux already provides well more. It's also a lot harder to boost the stack size under Linux; if there's a way to do it short of recompiling glibc, I don't know what it is, yet, and I've spent a lot more time than I should trying to find one. Now the symptoms I'm seeing pretty obviously have more to do with the signal handler for segfaults than any particular manifestation of segfault, but early triage attempts pointed at this thread stack problem. So, because I can't find hard diagnostic details in the mailing list archives, I'm hoping that someone might be able to tell me what the best indicator would be, or how to go about demonstrating that it isn't this problem. Close Database Connection /Newbie Question

Hello! Could someone please help me? In a little python-product I open a connection to Mysql like that: db = self.ZMySQL_Connection() With db.query("SQL") i send requests to the database. It works fine. But after a while I get an error "too many connections". Seems logical for me, because I don't close the connection. But how do I close it? Something like db.close() doesn't work. Zope 2.5.1 installation problems (zope dumping core)

I have downloaded Zope 2.5.1 both as the source distribution and as the linux distribution. I have installed the source distribution onto an SGI running IRIX 6.5 (running python2 w_pcgi.py and then start) and installed the linux distribution onto a Linux box running RedHat 6.2 (running the install script and then start). In both cases, I can connect to http://hostname:8080/, login with the initial admin account, and get the initial index page with no difficulty. However, if I select the link to the Zope Management Interface, I get the three frames, but only the top one fills with anything. I get two "Document contains no data" dialogs. When I check the server it has dumped core and the shell window indicates that the server has restarted. No error messages are apparent in either the shell window or the var/Z2.log file. Since I have exactly the same problem in two completely different installs, but can find no similar complaints in the mail archives, I suspect I am doing some so completely newbie mistake that no one even mentions it. However, I am clearly stumped and would appreciate some help. As an additional data point, I actually tried the Zope 2.5.0 install on the SGI box as well. I had a similar problem, although then I did get the lower right frame and could perform some of the tasks. However, I wasn't able to get it to add the Zope Tutorial. Again the symptoms on the server side were core dumps with no apparent error messages in the logs. Finally, just for the record, I have tested this with Netscape 4.79 on the SGI, as well as Netscape 4.72 and 6.2 under Windows NT. Same problem with each. So it does not appear to be a browser problem. (Actually if some browser problem could crash the server, that would be rather scary anyway.) Thanks, Malcolm

aq_acquire problem

All, in a product method, I'm trying to access the REQUEST... the class that the method lives in inherits from Acquisition.Explicit so I tried to access it like so: self.aq_acquire('REQUEST') which yields an error about aq_acquire not being there... any ideas? -- Alex

parameters to dtml docs and methods?

Suppose I have two DTML documents and/or methods, method A and method B. Method A Creferences Method B -- Method A: ... <dtml-var name="B"> ... which causes B to be published and it's "value" incorporated into A. Now, suppose there are some variables in A's namespace and further suppose that they are needed in method B. The question is how to pass them from A to B. What is the proper syntax? I find it surprising that I've been able to use Zope extensively without needing to know how to do this. But now I am beginning to write more modular and tigher code and need this mechanism.

Zope 2.5 as an xmlrpc client

I have been trying to write an external method to do XML-RPC calls from Zope 2.5 and I keep getting the rather uninformative error message "Fault" whenever I try to test a simple method. After poking around a bit, it appears that xmlrpclib is no longer included in Zope 2.5. Does anyone know why? Is there a version that works?
