Well that's furry muff, if you don't want to use it. I don't use it because it plays nicely with HTML editors, though (I don't remember the last time I used one, it was bloody ages ago), I use it because it's got excellent seperation between content and presentation. As for XML not being a programming language... ZPT isn't a programming language, it's a templating language. DTML is, well.... to me, DTML occupies some fuzzy ground in the middle where it's got the templating stuff but it's all mixed up with the programming aspect, and it gets easily confused.

Hi, does anybody know what does the timeout in /temp_folder/session_data means ? Timeout after creation or after last get/set operation ? Are the data removed from session_data after call REQUEST.SESSION.clear() ? > Data object timeout value in minutes > ("0" means no expiration) Regards, Michal

Problem with ZODCBD and Zope 2.51 (urgent!)

Hi there, I installed ZODBCDB (newest version for 2.4 with Python 2.1) Under Python 2.4 everything works fine. Under 2.51 when I try execute a SQL-Statement like select * from Employees where Name = 'David' I get the following error: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Error, sql.error: ('07001', -3010, '[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] 1 Parameter wurden erwartet, aber es wurden zu wenig Parameter \xfcbergeben.') --> Translation. 1 Parameter was expected, none where given ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- SQL used: select * from Employees where Name = 'David' ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- What is the problem? I am giving a speech on Zope next week and would like to show a DB connection to MS-Access. Therefore help is needed urgently. Thank you very much www.redcor.ch

Selecting an option in a drop-down list in DTML

Hi, I have a drop-down list which is dynamically populated from a database lookup table using the <dtml-in> structure to iterate through the list of rows and add an <OPTION> to the drop-down for each row in the table. like so: <select name="Purpose"> <dtml-in sqlLookupResearchPurpose> <option value="<dtml-var "RESEARCH_PURPOSE">"> <dtml- var "RESEARCH_PURPOSE"> </option> </dtml-in> </select> I want to be able to add the SELECTED HTML attribute to a specific option which is determined only at runtime. Basically if the current value of research_purpose field equals the value of the purpose variable I want to insert the select attribute at this point. <dtml-if expr="<dtml-var "RESEARCH_PURPOSE"> == <dtml-var "PURPOSE">"> SELECTED </dtml-if> However, I get a syntax error. How do you usually test the condition when 2 variable are equal? My default index_html template is returning "Zope" when I call here/title In the ZMI, the title property is clearly set to something else. Does anyone know why this might be? Zope 2.5 Win32. T.

Acquiring object from Products instances

Hi, I've a product that defines a classe ageForm. I've a PythonScript that adds an ageForm instance to a folder. After adding the instance it calls a method on it. This methods tries to access an objects using acquisition. Image I have something like this: + f (Folder) + o (object to acquire) + i (ageForm istance) + s (script that creates i and calls i.m) so the script s is like this: i = f.manageAddForlder ..... i.m () the ageForm method is like this: def m(self): o.doSomething() the ageForm class inherits from SimpleItem.SimpleItem and from a simple Python base class. Try dtml-var instead of dtml-call. dtml-call discards the output from whatever it calls. I never had a need (so far) to test this, but I think you can do something like: <A href="?method=methods.method1:method"> method1 </a> <A href="?method=methods.method2:method"> method2 </a> and then in the script that gets called do: <dtml-var method> Ayhan Ergul PS: As a sidebar, you better know what you're doing before executing arbitrary methods passed thru url.
