I am having trouble getting zope to append the trailing slash onto folder URL's when i use virtual host monster. This is really screwing up my log on method. how can i do this with an access rule, or is there a way i can force zope to do it? thanks, Blair Doneske Baylor College of Medicine Room n420 (713)798-6989

Pbs with ExternalEditor win32

Hi, As a newbie I am having problems getting External Editor to work on Windows (98). I have followed the installation instructions scrupulously, but when I try to open the object for the first time by clicking on the pencil I get a "Fatal Error [Errno 2] No such file or directory; '~\\ZopeEdit.ini'. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Adam, Alastair, The WorldPilot Licence was based simply on the wording of the Zope Public Licence (ZPL) at the time of Zope 1.x (1998/1999?). This was done to keep things simple in combination with Zope. Neuberger & Hughes absolutely encourages open source development, so if somebody would like to make changes to worldpilot, but sees the licence as a hindrance, an alternative licence would surely be an option, preferably the GPL, which we use on some other code as well in the mean time (although my understanding is that the GPL includes an Copyright Attribution clause at an appropriate location for code with user interaction, too ;-). Otherwise the current wording of the ZPL would be just as fine with us. WorldPilot was initially developed for Zope 1.x and was based on that version of the Product API. Zope 2.2.x introduced a change that didn't work with the way things work in WorldPilot, although as far we looked into it it seemed to (only) involve the Logoff call, but we didn't have time to delve further into that issue. Currently Neuberger & Hughes has been concentrating it's workgroup development efforts on a new workgroup server framework that goes beyond the requirements of a web based workgroup client, and has support for a much richer data model to provide interoperability capability with existing industry standard Workgroup clients. If somebody would like to adapt WorldPilot to their needs, but needs a different licence as proposed above should get in contact with me. You're right, installing ZMySQLDA under windows is really difficult. I got it thanks to a doc I found I don't know where (maybe Derek sent it to me), but here you are. Igor Leturia Here's a document that says how I got it working. It would be nice if this could be turned into a "Howto" on the Zope.org website, but I don't have an account there. --Derek ------------------------- Ever try to get a MySQL server and Zope running under MS-Windows? Here's what I had to do. And no, I didn't find this documented anywhere. This was a bit challenging as I haven't really used MS-Windows for anything other than gaming in about 5 years. 1. Install and start Zope 2. Install and start MySQL server (I'm using mysqld-opt.exe) 3. Install ZMySQLDA (*) You need a Windows program that can handle tarballs, as ZMySQLDA, like most Zope "Products", is not distributed as a .zip file 4. Restart Zope 5. Notice that the ZMySQLDA Product is showing as "broken" in the Zope Control Panel, because you are missing the MySQL-python interface library (distributed separately) 6. Try to install MySQL-python (filename "MySQL-python-0.9.1.win32-py2.1.exe") (*) This will fail, because the Windows installer program will only unpack the files if it can find a "Python Installation" directory to unpack it into. There is no way to specify your Zope Python install as it will only let you choose a Python install that is finds in the registry (I *think*). I.e., you fscking NEED Python to get access to the files. A .zip file was not available for download. 7. Download and install the win32 Python 2.1.2 (to match your Zope 2.5.0's Python) 8. Now install MySQL-python (it should work this time) 9. Restart Zope, and notice that the ZMySQLDA Product is broken, because it is not finding the MySQL-python interface library 10. At this point, you'll need to either (a) have payed attention to the directories the Windows Installers used, or (b) go surfing around your hard drive until you find where Zope, Python, and MySQL-python were placed. For me it was (b). 11. Identify the files needed for MySQL-python. Since MS-Window's package management system doesn't provide an "rpm -ql" equivalent, I guessed this to be C:\Python21\ _mysql.pyd _mysql_exceptions.py _mysql_exceptions.pyc _mysql_exceptions.pyo MySQLdb/ [dir with all contents] ...then I copied those files into the directory C:\Program Files\Demo\lib\python That "Demo" is the name of the directory Zope was installed into. 12. Restart Zope. Is is working? Seems to be... I can talk to the database from Zope. It is correct and stable? Fsck if I know. --Derek

[REQ] Support for multi-lingual components of TextIndexNG wanted

Hi folks, the next version of TextIndexNG will focus on multi-lingual issues (and has full unicode support). I need some support from the community for components that are language-dependent: - stopwords Stopwords are words that are removed during the indexing process because they are very common e.g. 'a', 'the', 'for' in English - normalization Normalization means the translation of special characters or a sequence of characters to a more simpler form, e.g. 'Ä' -> 'Ae', 'ä' -> 'ae', ´ß' -> 'ss' or a more radical reduction like 'Ä' -> 'A', 'ä' -> 'a', ´ß' -> 's'. Such a reduction allows more fault tolerant searching. At the moment TextIndexNG supports only German and English. If you like to see more languages supported by TextIndexNG, feel free to contribute lists with stopwords of your language and/or translation rules for the normalization step. Thanks, Andreas

eliminating redundancy in forms, one solution

Hi, I have been striving for weeks to be able to use the same HTML form for both editing existing objects, and entering new objects. What i did not want to do was to have two <INPUT> elements like this: <input type="text" name="input_name" tal:condition="exists:task/task_name" tal:attributes="value task/task_name" /> <input type="text" name="input_name" tal:condition="not:exists:task/task_name" tal:attributes="value string:Enter Name Here" /> To get around this, i am using the python script that returns the desired task instance from the ZCatalog. If the task_id parameter to the python script is 0 (or one could check to see if any ZCatalog brain instances are returned from the ZCatalog), i create a small dictionary to act as the transient object to hold whatever default data i need, like this: if (task_id == '0'): task = {'task_name' : 'Enter Name Here'} return task else: return context.tasks.Catalog({'id' : task_id})[0] Now, my <input> tag simply looks like this: <input type="text" name="input_name" tal:attributes="value task/task_name" /> Just wanted to put this out for the record, as i know some folks have asked me if i had found a solution yet. MySQL on W2K - ZOPE 2.5

I set it up on my personal W2K workstation. Zope 2.5, mysql-3.23.51 http://www.mysql.com/downloads/download.php?file=Downloads/MySQL-3.23/mysql… I used these directions with some tweaking/interpretation... ... but I couldn't follow directions but found this worked... http://www.zope.org/Members/isalsberg/MySQLDA/Compiling_ZMySQLDA_%20win32 I downloaded the following: 1. http://www.zope.org/Members/adustman/Products/ZMySQLDA/ZMySQLDA-2.0.8.tar.gz 2. http://www.zope.org/Members/isalsberg/MySQLDA/BuildMySQLDA.zip 3. http://telia.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/mysql-python/MySQL-python-0.9.1… 4. Place the uncompressed "ZMySQLDA-2.0.8.tar.gz" = ZMySQLDA into the /lib/python/Products/ dir 5. Place the "_mysql_exceptions.py" file , "CompatMysqldb.py" file, "MySQLdb" dir. from the "MySQL-python-0.9.1" dir into "zope-home/bin" dir 6. Place the "BuildMySQLDA\MSVC6\Release\_mysql.dll" file into "zope-home/bin" dir I ran out of time but I didn't receive any errors on restarting Zserver and I was able to create a Database connection, create a table, and query a table. Beyond that... I'm still in the discovery phase... @Matthew: The option is "-i xxx". Where xxx is the interval. This would only help in the original question if the server is running on ZEO. Oliver Erlewein
