What is the way of finding out information about the usage (there is a bit of time crunch, so cannot read code). TIA Chetan

Hi Tom, I didn't get the html-component version for Internet Explorer 5.5 working, but the js-library based version for IE5.0 seems has almost the same functionality. The IE5.0 version is adaptable to use with zope, you just need to create the right hooks to zope to be able to save to zope or a database attached to zope. The use of the HTML-component version is a puzzle to me too. I asked people at Yusap, but they didn't have the answer either. If you like I can set up an example for you so you can see how I'm using it. (I have to adjust some things because we have a very specific embedding so you'll have to give a a day or two to prepair it.. it's kind of busy at work at the moment.) Cookie Crumbler vs. Session data

I'm using the Cookie Crumbler in conjuction with the Simple User Folder. Cookie Crumbler stuffs all the user data within a cookie called __ac (by default) as separate variables. session_data_manager, OTOH, has it's own _ZopeId cookie for session data. Is there any existing product that stores the authentication data in the session data instead of a separate cookie? Or is that just a bad idea? delete a folder without ZMI?

I added an ldpauserfolder as a subfolder and got an error: Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: NO_SUCH_OBJECT Error Value: {'desc': 'No such object', 'info': ''} yet it was created anyway. Now when I try to open the folder that this folder is contained in by clicking its parent foldername in the ZMI, I cannot see my other folders, just this error. The "Delete" and other ZMI buttons don't appear so I cannot delete this folder. -Patrick Price

I then ran # /usr/local/bin/zope-instance /home/zope as root, to create an instance of Zope. # chmod -R zope:nobody /home/zope # su zope # /home/zope/start & To start Zope as user zope. I then logged into the site, created my /site1 and /site2 folders, and created a Virtual Host monster with mappings of: site1.ucdavis.edu/site1 site2.ucdavis.edu/site2 At this point, going to site1.ucdavis.edu goes to the main website, while going to site1.ucdavis.edu:8080 goes to the subfolder. So I think my Squid configuration is off. I went through /etc/squid/squid.conf and have the following options enabled (not commented out): http_port 80 acl QUERY urlpath_regex cgi-bin \? no_cache deny QUERY cache_dir diskd /var/squid/cache 100 16 256 emulate_httpd_log on auth_param basic children 5 auth_param basic real Squid proxy-caching web server auth_param basic credentialsttl 2 hours httpd_accel_host my.ip. httpd_accel_port 8080 httpd_accel_single_host on I'm confused about the ACL's in step 4 of http://www.zope.org/Members/bowerymarc/squid-zserver-virtual I don't see an acl of type webserver in squid.conf ... So what should that line be? acl ext-ip-addr site1.ucdavis.edu www.xxx.yyy.zzz/255.255.255.255 And then the ACL is ...? Http_access allow MATCH ext-ip-addr Clearly, the zope side of things are working so far. What is the SiteAccessEnhanced used for? Do I still need a site root in each virtual folder? ZPT and standard_error_message solution

I ran into some problems using a ZPT for the standard_error_message, and noticed from the archives that others had as well. It took me awhile but I eventually found a cause and solution. The problem occurs if your ZPT standard_error_message uses a template macro, i.e.: <html metal:use-macro="here/main_template/macros/master"> If the error is NotFound (404), then here apparently is nowhere, i.e. not defined, and there the only way to directly acquire the template is by using root, i.e. <html metal:use-macro="root/main_template/macros/master"> (or something similar, depending on your template location) Even then, here is (apparently) not defined within the template, so this doesn't get you much if your template uses here, and it probably does. Solution: Make standard_error_message a DTML method. It can be as simple as: <dtml-return expr="other_error_message(error_type=error_type, error_message=error_message, error_value=error_value, error_tb=error_tb)"> where other_error_message is a ZPT which uses a template. here is defined (on a 404, here is the location of other_error_page). In my case, I ended up using this instead: <dtml-if "error_type=='NotFound'"> <dtml-return missing_error_message> <dtml-else> <dtml-return expr="other_error_message(error_type=error_type, error_message=error_message, error_value=error_value, error_tb=error_tb)"> </dtml-if> The reason for this, I had trouble in the ZPT testing the error_type to see if it was NotFound, and it was easier to test for this in the DTML Method to use a different error page.
