Speed question

Hello zope users, I need your help with following situation. I have started to use FormulatorLayout Product, which in turn uses Formulator Product, to layout and render my forms. But the speed of rendering form with about 40 elements takes 10-20 seconds. Can you explain me how I can improve the speed of rendering these forms? IE rejects cookies

Let's try this again. I'm building an intranet for my company that has <iframe> links to other outside systems. These outside sites have there own cookie based session tracking. For some reason, Internet Explorer rejects the cookies unless I go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Privacy -> Advanced and check "Override automatic settings" and then check "Always allow session cookies". Therefore, I can't log into these outside systems. All other browsers work fine. IE works fine is I server the page through Apache or IIS. There's something about Zope that is making the cookies unpalatable to IE. Does anyone know what happens when a site generates a cookie from a frame on a Zope site? If anyone has any insight on the matter, please share it with me. Thanks, Jacob Behm

my zope server keep on crashing

Hi, I am running zope 2.5.1 on linus red hat 7.1 but the sad experience is that the zope keep on crashing without any error msg. apache authentication with proxy -- remote user mode

hello all has anybody got this working: apache with as a proxy should do authentication zope is in remote user mode (as described in the docs, by leaving out the password after the collon in the "access" file) the apache server authenticates succesfully and in the z2.log file i see that the remote_user variable is passed over, but zope always wants to switch back to normal user authentication and wants credentials. (btw. the user is existent in the root user folder) is it possible, that this is a proxy problem, do i need to pass additional information? tia, bernd

[Search] Documentation for "__guarded_*__"

I am searching documentation for "__guarded_getattr__", "__guarded_setattr__" and friends. The name suggests they should guard. Thus a definition __guarded_getattr__= __getattr__ is probably not very wise. Is the following definition correct when I want the dynamic attributes (defined by "__getattr__") to be protected in the same way normal attributes are: def __guarded_getattr__(self,attr): r= getattr(self,attr) if getSecurityManager().validate(accessed=self, name=attr, value=r) return r raise Unauthorized, attr Dieter

context syntax for subdir

Hello All: I wish to upload a DTML Document to a subfolder of folderA using a form and python script which reside in the parent folder of folderA and don't understand context well enough to designate subfolder properly. The Document goes into subfolder based on it's filename and script looks something like: .... if filename[0:4]=='abc': client=context.folderA(subfolderabc) #fails at this line elif ... ... if hasattr(client,filename): #test for existence, overwrite client.manage_delObjects([filename]) client.manage_addDTMLDocument(id=filename,file=myfile,title= mytitle) else: client.manage_addDTMLDocument(id=filename,file=myfile,title= mytite) How do I stipulate subfolderabc? This functionality is really depending on the typography support on your server. I believe that ImageMagick's convert program can be set up to use Freetype and TTF fonts. This may be able to suit your needs, but you would need to code an external method to utilize ImageMagick to create the buttons for you (well, to call 'convert' at the command-line with arguments for the text and font you want to use); you would likely want to cache buttons, since auto-generated images can be expensive. Even with this, you would need to create a mechanism for making these images accessible to the templates you are using (and thus the users browsing the pages). That said, there may be ways to do this without rolling it out all on your own, but I've never tried anything like this: http://www.zope.org/Members/TheJester/ZButtons On the low-end, if your requirements are simple, and your browser clients can support it, you may seriously want to consider use of CSS and DHTML for making your buttons, since it could be done on the client without all this heavy lifting. Alternately, on the high-end, you may want to consider a product like Macromedia Generator or Adobe Altercast to do this for you on a separate server. Vhosting

Hello all, I've read and re-read http://www.zope.org/Members/4am/SiteAccess2/vhosting a number of times. I have a webserver that needs to host a bunch of different sites, site1.ucdavis.edu, site2.ucdavis.edu, etc. I planned to use name based redirection, so I have c-names to the IP address of the server, i.e. site1.ucdavis.edu --> IP, site2.ucdavis.edu --> IP, etc. I installed on OpenBSD, so Zope runs as an instance in /home/zoperoot under port 8080, and Squid sits in front of it and redirects from 80 to port 8080. This part is working fine. Under my main zope site, I created two folders, site1 and site2. I then created, in each folder, an empty SiteRoot. That is, Title, Base, and Path are all blank. At least, that's how I interpreted the directions above. I then created a DTML method called host_redirector, with the following content: Extract the part of HTTP_HOST we care about, and declare our rewrite dictionary. <dtml-let hostname="_.string.upper(_.string.split(HTTP_HOST, '.')[0])" sitemap="{'SITE1': 'site1', 'SITE2': 'site2'}"> Do we have a match? <dtml-if expr="sitemap.has_key(hostname)"> Set the logical root: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('SiteRootPATH', '/')"> Add physical root: <dtml-call "REQUEST['TraversalRequestNameStack'].append(sitemap[hostname])"> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> Since I only care about the first part of the name, I rewrote the script from the example. It may be incorrect! I tried the equivalent at a python interpreter, but I may certainly have goofed up. In the root folder, I Set an Access rule to host_redirector. I changed the index pages in each of Site1 and Site2 to differentiate them. However, going to site1.ucdavis.edu gives the top level index_html, while going to site1.ucdavis.edu/site1 gives index_html in the Site1 folder, so clearly I did something wrong. Hi all, it is exist some thing to automatically generate swap image buttons with Zope? I mean that you have two source images (for onmouseover and onmouseout) and that "thing" will "burn" text to that images from some variable (eg., Title). I have migrate from M$ Frontpage where that feature is incorporated and in Zope is missing to me. Many thanks, J. Lukesh

dtml-with question

Hi, I have a DTML-method that picks up a dictionary from an External Method, and should create a folder and a page template within it, but it doesn't work correctly: <dtml-let dictionaryvar="filescript(REQUEST)"> <dtml-let mytitle="dictionaryvar['title']" body="dictionaryvar['body']" myid="dictionaryvar['fid']" > <dtml-call "manage_addFolder(myid, mytitle)"> <dtml-with myid> <dtml-call "manage_addProduct['PageTemplates'].manage_addPageTemplate('index_html', mytitle, body)"> </dtml-with> </dtml-let> </dtml-let> This creates a folder alright but creates the PT at the same level and not inside it. However if I try replacing myid in the manage add line with 'test' and do a <dtml-with test> it works just great. Any pointers anyone?
