Problem returning values from a catalog...

Hi, I ve got a very strange problem: I want to return a catalog value named 'from'. The problem is that i cant change the name of the value because its part of the tracker-source code(Maybe I could, but thats the worst solution). When I access the catalog in the way, for brain in catalog: print brain.from i get a error because the name from is a python keyword !! If you know a solution please let me know !! Otherwise i have to edit the tracker-source(urgh!) Thanx, Sebastian

how to use setattr in __init__ method

Hi all, I want to clean up my code by setting my arguments dynamically at initialization. I use the manage_afterAdd method for this, but isn't there an other way to do this? form/script problem

Hi All: I am trying to upload a file as a DTML Document with a form that calls a python script which edits the filename and file ending and then calles a dtml method to show all DTML documents in the avc folder. The form is: ------- <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2>AVC Submit Form</h2> <p>Upload a file to AVC folder.</p> <form action="uploadActionScript" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <p><input type="file" name="myfile" size="85"></p> <p>Title:  <input type="text" name="mytitle" size="70"></p> <input type="submit"> </form> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> ------- and the python script is: --------- import string fname=string.split(myfile,'\\')[-1] fname=string.split(fname,'.html')[0] context.avc.manage_addDTMLDocument(fname,mytitle) return context.avc.showFiles() ------- Everything resides in a subdirectory of avc When I test the script I get the error: Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'REQUEST' is not defined When I run the form I get the error: FileUpload instance has no attribute 'split' I have tried variations of the script but cannot get around the errors. If you only have FTP access, then you won't be able to set up Zope very easily. You really need either A) a server that's running Zope already, or B) a server where you have enough control to install Zope yourself _and_ permission from the server administrator (assuming that's not you). - Am >>This site must be able to run as a .com on a foreign server we dont >>have access to except via ftp. Be sure to rewrite «standard_html_header» in DTML too. I don't think you can include a ZPT document this way. main.dtml not used!?!

Dear all, I often change some things in to encompass the ZMI to my needs on newly installed instances in lib/python/OFS/dtml/main.dtml The strange thing is that this time the changes are not taking affect. I've turned off the document cache in Opera and restarted Zope many times. All I've done really is that I've added a direct like to adding a Z SQL method next to the drop down list to save a few clicks. Does anybody have any idea why this might happen? Zope Troubleshooting Tip (learn from my mistake)

So I was trying to get ZUBB to work (yes, I am the person maintaining the code as well) and for some reason I could not post to this one board I had installed in a virtual host/cmf. I created another board and nothing would post. I checked permissions, locations, everything and it would not post. After hours of playing with it and getting quite frustrated I remembered a problem I once had with names so I searched my installation for "post" but got back nothing but the two post methods in my first and test boards. And then I saw it. Sitting right there in the root directory. A folder named "submit". I renamed it "submit_old" and lo and behold I could post again. The problem was that I was checking for "submit" in my post method and it was picking up on the directory name (OO and all that goodness). TIP: The lesson learned is: When troubleshooting something in Zope make sure you are not calling a method or variable that has the same name as another method / variable / object in your folder paths. Use the find feature and take a look around. Cheers, BZ

Is there a later version? I am not sure I understant the implications of the C API message -- I am running Zope 2.5.1 on Linux with Python 2.1.3.

Updated pages list

I have a zope site for which I want to include a list of updated/new pages on the front page of the site. I've been searching for an example of how to do this. Can anyone point me toward one? I'm better with python than with dtml, so if there is a way to do it with a python script, that would be great. Glenn
