Since it won't work, I did it without document_src() (which isn't needed anyway in my case because the code doesn't change) and called the Template directly via context.aq_parent.components_[container.template](request) (which works fine, being components_ the folder containing the templates, and template the string property containing the id of the DTML method). Returning a zip file (downloaded by user)??

Hi, I have a zip file that I create on the fly which is to be returned to the user. The process goes like this: 1. User clicks on a link. 2. External method creates a zip file and puts it in a temp folder( file system folder not Zope temp) 3. External method (same one) returns the zip file as part of response as type application/x-zip The following is what I do in to get it done:(part 3 i.e.) zip_size = stat(zip_file_name).st_size zip_file = open(zip_file_name) zip_data = zip_file.read() zip_file.close() REQUEST.RESPONSE.setStatus('OK') REQUEST.RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Type','application/x-zip') REQUEST.RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Length',zip_size) REQUEST.RESPONSE.write(zip_data) but when I try it out the following happens: - the zip file is created - zip_data has the data (of course) - i am prompted to download something of type application/x-unknown-content - if i save the file it has zero length so what am I doing wrong or not doing here, that needs to be done to get this right?? ANNOUNCE: Pound - reverse proxy and load balancer - v0.8

This is to announce the release of Pound v0.8. This release is mostly about bug fixes. Unless some new suggestions come in, the feature set seems to be rather complete at this point. Changes from previous version: - fixed a serious problem: Pound now is able to detect back-end connections that have timed out (closed by the server) and re-open them if necessary. Previous versions would return a "500 Server error" and log "can't read from xxx" in such cases. This issue was mostly apparent with newer versions of Apache that set time limits on connection times. - fixed the request pattern matching as per the RFCs (all allowed character classes). - fixed a problem with the handling of "HEAD" type requests. - fixed an issue with conflicts between SSL and multi-threading. - added a header indicating the origin of the request (X-Forwarded-For) - added the possibility to pass SSL certificate information in headers. What is Pound (from the Web page) - a reverse-proxy: it passes requests from client browsers to one or more back-end servers. - a load balancer: it will distribute the requests from the client browsers among several back-end servers, while keeping session information. - an SSL wrapper: Pound will decrypt HTTPS requests from client browsers and pass them as plain HTTP to the back-end browsers. - an HTTP/HTTPS sanitizer: Pound will verify requests for correctness and accept only well-formed ones. - an HTTP/1.1 to 1.0 proxy. - a fail-over-server: should a back-end server fail, Pound will take note of the fact and stop passing requests to it until it recovers. - a request redirector - it will pass client requests to separate groups of servers, based on required URL (pattern matching) For further information, download, etc. please see http://www.apsis.ch/pound The software is at version 0.8 (beta quality). How do I call a method in a Product? OK- I seem to have a workable solution. Modifying the sql queries in some way was not practical due to the large number of them that would need to be modified. I wanted to adjust the value before it was passed to the individual page components. The start of my DTML document looks like this: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-if input_month> <dtml-else> <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('input_month', '2002-07')"> </dtml-if> ...which seems to do what I need. Next I will work out how to automatically insert the current month as the default instead of hand-updating it on the first day of each month. Thanks for your assistance!

Standard error message - when host / folder need authentication

Hi, I've been strugling with error messages on sites that need authentication. I am running Zope 2.5.1 with python 2.1.3. Setup is following Zope root +-------- virtualhost one +-------- virtualhost two + +----------subdirectory +-------- virtualhost three Virtualhost one is allowed for anonymous browsing and standard error message work well there. No problem. Virtual host two's main directory is allowed, but subdirectory requires authentication. Error messages work in the main directory, but in subdirectory I get error message like below. Virtual host three requires authentication. Error messages do not work. I get error message like below. If I create standard_error_message and give access for anonymous user, it seems that on the place of the second ( indented ) error message is shown that message. Is there a way to get these error messages to work with sites that require authentication? Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Suggestions on getting proper URL in ZPT?

Hi all, I've got a few page templates that need to contain references to Python scripts that are in parallel directories to them. How can I make this work so that no matter where the page template is used, it is always able to call the Python script? One way I thought of was simply obtaining the url of the page template, relative to the server root, and working from there. But I don't know how to find the URL of the page template. Any sort of suggestions would be appreciated. Alec Munro
