dtml sessions?

Hi all, Just wondering, does Zope (I'm using 2.5.0) have built-in session support? I have just discovered that my REQUEST variables don't stay in memory! so I just need something that will store a variable in memory regardless of traversing through forms! I guess that this means sessions sessions or cookies, not really sure about either of them, and preliminary findings indicate I may need to add more stuff into Zope to get sessions working! So if there is any easy way of doing this, can somebody please enlighten me before I go off at a lengthy tangent again to re-invent the wheel? :) many thanks! Regards, Greg Conway. Hi Paul Processor set's have been in Solaris since around 2.6. and are very usefull if you have multiple cpu's In a multicpu environment you can create a set of 1 or more cpu's and nothing else will run on them except for processes assigned to the set. You can even force things like the NFS kernel threads to occupy a single CPU (if that is something you really want to do ;-) by starting up nfsd in a processor set, the nfsd process is schedulable entity for the kernel threads, and if it runs in a processor set which has a single cpu then the kernel threads will get scheduled to run there. The big difference is with pbind you bind a process to a CPU, but other stuff can and will run on the CPU. If you use processor set's you can exclude all other processes from running on the CPU, other than those processes that have been assigned to the set. Processor set's have really replaced pbind. You would only use pbind if you want to force processor affinity and limit the task to a single CPU, but let other tasks use the cpu. try docs.sun.com and search for psrset. Solaris 9 introduces a Resource manager and even finer grain scheduling of resources, and using resource pools and projects, and new scheduling classes such as fixed priority and fair share scheduling. People really shouldn't be afraid of running python/zope on solaris, especially in multi-cpu environments, as long as they understand how python works, because you actually have much better resource control than pretty well any other O/S out there, but as they say use the right tool for the job, and make informed decisions ;-) See ya Tim On Thu, 2002-08-29 at 16:03, Paul Browning wrote: > > Tim: > > Thanks for the feedback. proxy permission problem

Hi, lI have a python script that uses the mailhost.send() API call to send an email. In my zope setup all authenticated users (Role: Authenticated) are allowed to use mailhost services and can use it (tested it thoroughly) Hopwever this specific script is can only be used by anonymous users. To facilitate the use I went into the proxy tab of the script management console and selected 'Authenticated' and saved the changes. However, it still kicks me to the login page when I try to use the script. What more do I have to do to let me use it as Anonymous??? I can use it if I am logged in. Transcience exceeds maximum number .. ZStylesheet bug?

Not sure where to go with this.. I'm beating up my Zope server with OpenSta (thanks for dropping the link on this list the other day..) My test fails after about 980 downloads, with the traceback below. 1. I'm not using any session data. 2. I have a ZStyleSheet, but it's just being rendered.. 3. No cache objects enabled on this test server. Any ideas? Query on CMF.

Hi, I am having zope 2.5.1( Windows 2000 platform) and was trying to add CMF1.3 to it. But even after copying it into the products category of zope, its not getting reflected in the selection list or in the products list of the management console. I have tried restarting zope but still its not working. What might be the reason? Expecting an earlier response. Thanks and regards, Paul.

Why can i execute a python script to manage_clone a ZPT with the test tab in zope or thru a url call if i put in my manager user/pass but not with a proxy role set to manager?? And if i try to create a ZPT on the fly context.managePageTemplate(id) throws an attribute error.

Accessing self in External Methods

Hi, I am using an external method to call wvWare and catalog a M$-Word file content. The file object is an attribute of my ZClass. The external method is called by a Python Script (PrincipiaSearchSource). I´d like to know how can I access the file atribute from the external method. I tryed directly: self.file, but it didn´t work. Does that mean ZClasses atributes are always private? How can I get this file object? Using getattr? One more question: how can I modify a class attribute inside the External Method? thanks, Rogerio
